iPods
iPods
I'm about to take the plunge and purchase an iPod. Before I do, I wondered if any owners might be able to clear up some points...
1) If I upload a file from my PC to my iPod, do I have to also keep it on my PC?
2) If I delete a file from my PC, will it be removed from my iPod when I 'redock'?
Basically, my plan is to rip a load of my CD singles, back up the tracks to blank DVDs, rip them to my iPod and then sell the CDs. I don't have a great deal of memory on my PC so I don't want to be crippled by having to keep them stored there too.

Re: iPods
1) no you can get rid of them afterwards by deleting them from iTunes.Dog wrote:I'm about to take the plunge and purchase an iPod. Before I do, I wondered if any owners might be able to clear up some points...

2) no unless you select the "automatic sync" option thing in the iTunes/iPod preferences menu.

Or if you use the program Anapod Manager, you won't have to deal with iTunes, as Anapod integrates with Explorer and makes it so damn easier to fiddle with (if you don't use a Mac, of course).

I've quite enjoyed my iPod Mini. Like ultraplus, I was not a big fan of the earbuds. I picked up a great set of Sony over-the-ear style phones that I like.

Haven't really seen any difference, but I never even used the buds. I get 7 to 8 trips to the gym (at an hour per) between charges, which is just about right on the advertised capacity of 8 hours for the Mini.

Yes, apple was called on this.. it was a major scam, as the iPod is un-openable, (except by Apple). The original policy was that a dead iPod is a dead iPod, so you buy a new one. But now they've instituted a "battery replacement program" whereby you send in your iPod to Apple and they give it a fresh battery... at the bargain basement price of $99.00Aaron wrote:I heard the iPod's were a joke because once the battery runs out, you might as well buy a whole new iPod, and they only last two to three years.
That, and the earbuds turned me off.

is it really that hard to put in a different set of headphones? I cant use earbuds so I use my standard koss in-ear ones and its not THAT big a deal. I was quite happy to receive an ipod, though i was looking more at this one creative model moreso. Sometimes you have to give in to the fad I think, and in this instance I do enjoy the equipment and it works for my life.
