Red Letter Day (Red Vinyl)

#1 Post by Jealousy »

Six years ago I found a special edition about "A red letter day" with red vinyl that contains a remix of the song by Basement Jaxx and "The boy who couldn't keep his clothes on" (The Far away dub).
Are there others special editions that you know? I'm curious!

A red letter day didn't have many collectable items for its release despite being a great song :(

A red letter day is not a 'great song', it's one of the worst songs PSB have ever done IMHO. It was a terrible mistake to release it as a single, and the video was awful too, which even PSB agree on! The choir at the start of the track is so out-of-tune and the middle bit, "you can sneer..." etc really grates and even Neil sounds like he's bored singing it! When they performed it on "Top Of The Pops", Chris lied down during the whole performance!

Along with "I Get Along", it's one of the worst singles ever by PSB and I like them all except er... A red letter day and I get along.

I think that A red letter day is the best song of Bilingual.

Well, that's not saying much with tripe like "Electricity" & "Metamorphosis" on there is it? The best tracks on "Bilingual" are "Single-Bilingual" and the fantastic "Survivors", which should've been the 4th single from the album, as it's a beautfiul song. Even PSB agree that song should've been a single...

"Bilingual" is not a great album though, it was a quite weak follow-up to the magnificent "Very", as compare Can you forgive her? to A red letter day and there's no contest! "Nightlife" & "Release" are better albums IMHO.

The Survivors is terrible. Red Letter Day was an obvious single - though they should have released it third insead of fourth.
Does cameos only.

I think that Survivor it's a normal song, nothing special. I prefer "It always comes as a surprise".

The Survivors is bland, bland, bland - A red letter day should have been released in a form closer to the album version rather than the cheesy Motiv 8 stylee
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

A Red letter day 12" vinyl

I really enjoy this song. I don't think much of the film clip, but the release in general was good. I enjoyed all the remixes as well. The Basement Jaxx remix was certainly different, but that is what I like about it, it didn't come across formulaic.

I thought Billingual was a good album as well. The music experimented on a few different levels (the same reason I respect their "Release" album, but unfortunately for me I didn't enjoy the music as much as I did Billingual and Nightlife). Metamorphosis and Electricity differ so much from previous songs that I can't help liking them. The only song that I still cannot enjoy is Saturday Night Forever.

My two cents worth.

I LOVE survivors. its from the stable of PSB songs I love best. upbeat and beautiful along the lines of liberation or drunk.
