Erm, a personal song is an autobiographical song.

'Fear of flying' is a straight quote of what Neil has said. So, direct your complaints to the writer. He can't possibly know what the song is about better than you, can he?

On Jolls Holland show when Neil was being asked what H&D was about he said : " I was missing someone. Someone who´s in America".....
That "someone" was his boyfriend.

Home and Dry is personal in regard to it being about Neil seeing someone who lived in America hence the transatlantic miles line and all the miss you bits. It's probably a personal song that then has its themes turned into something more generic, something which I think applies to a huge range of their tracks. The Samurai in Autumn is also personal in that it refers to his and Chrsi career at the time

TSIA isn´t that personal actually. It was those Nightlife outfits and in some mag they said about those outfits "the samurais in autumn"

It's about Neil and Chris in the autumn of their career. The minimalism of the lyric only serves to emphasise the inherent sadness in the Samurai facing the setting sun.

Well done people. From a Literally:

Neil: I'd had this title in my notebook. When we were on the Nightlife tour, in a German newspaper there was a picture of Chris and I in our wigs and everything, and the headline was translated for us and it said "the samurai in autumn". And I thought it was a very beautiful phrase. I think it was in Munich because I was walking around Munich in the rain one day, thinking about this, and I thought of this line: "it's not as easy as it was or as difficult as it could be for the samurai in autumn". The samurai in autumn are me and Chris.
I was summing up Chris's and my professional status and career at that time: "It's not as easy as it was or as difficult as it could be for the samurai in autumn". I had other words as well, but I couldn't work out what I was saying, to be honest. I had this corny "don't cry, samurai, bye bye" Beatley thing which I discarded.
Chris: Like "Too Shy"?

Back to topic. I recieved WowieZowie today and listened to the whole Tranquilizer for the first time (so far I´ve only heard a short clip of it). It sounds very weird.

I think Tranquilizer is okay but I tried to listen to the rest of the album at a record store recently and thought it was really awful. Maybe it sounds good in a club.
