Yeah but there's nothing wrong with releasing records in the first week of January. It's desperate, but perfectly legal and doesn't venture into any grey areas like the 'order from EIS' thing does.

Regarding chart games Neil was once asked why Flamboyant wasn't released in January when sales were lower so that it could have made the top 10. He responded that Parlo was more concerned with sales than chart positions and would rather the single be released in a busier week when there would be more people in the shops and thus the chance for more sales.
Furthermore, Erasure released 2 singles that were deliberately made ineligible for the charts. Probably this was done to prevent them from very low chart entries. PSB have never deliberately released ineligible singles.
They did with London. It was released only in Europe to avoid a potential low chart placing which is basically the same thing as making it ineligible. Erasure did the same thing with Rock Me Gently in 1996 (3rd single from the self titled album).

Don’t think so. As far as I know, they wanted to release London in UK, but Parlophone were not keen on releasing it, worried about the potential low chart placing and about the "let’s breal the law" lyric. And the decision of not releasing London was what make them to put out Disco 3.

At least, that’s what Neil said.

Yeah they were keen on it to be released here, but Parlophone felt it would flop (it would have probably still gone between 15 and 20)

Well, not as different as #14 for Home and dry and #18 for I get along. Enough flops for Parlophone?

Home and Dry shifted a lot of copies in a very competitive week and would have gone top 10 most weeks.

Not true. Busy and slow weeks have similar effect in sales of all new releases. If Home And Dry had been released in a slower week, it would have sold less copies and would have charted similarly.
Does cameos only.

If you're talking about different times of the year then yes. But I can't believe that, had Home and Dry been released the week before or the week after (which were both slightly lower saleswise, I think), it wouldn't have sold an identical amount of units and therefore charted higher. PSB are a 'fanbase' act after all.
Passion, love, sex, money, violence, religion, injustice and death. More on that story later.
