Danny Elfman & Pet Shop Boys

#1 Post by Nickname »

I don't know but I'm beginning to be a huge fan of the composer Danny Elman (the composer of a lot of Burton's Movies, The Simpsons, Futurama and many other soundtracks). I think he is so brilliant, would you like a collaboration of Danny in any PSB song or album?

The remake of planet of the apes was a very big disappointment given Burton's reputation and track record.
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.

years ago I was in some way an Elfman fan (around Batman Retuns era), but he becomes really predictable and boring thru the years...many of his soundtracks sounds too similar... I get bored of this aspect of his musical career, but you can find some brilliant and fun stuff into Oingo Boingo´s discography (hir first band ;) )
This is not my signature.

It would be interesting to listen to a PSB song with Danny Elfman´s orchestral arrangements... but I wonder how it would sound... :)

The good thing of that is Danny Elfman can also sound pop and electro. I would like PSB making a little bit of funny electro songs (like Danny Elfman's Futurama Soundtrack).

I would very much prefer for them to work with Cathy Dennis.
Does cameos only.

Cathy Dennis is so over-rated.

Obviously, 'Can't get you out of my head' and 'Toxic' are brilliant, but two good songs in 5 years? Hardly a track record to die for.

She's got an amazing rack though.

On a more serious note, here's a comprehensive list of her songwriting credits:

I still maintain that she has only written two really good songs in the past 5 years and is over-rated.

Mind you, thats two more than the Pet Shop Boys.

Well, without digging too deep into her catalogue, Will Young's 'Leave right now' is a damn good song.

Going back to Danny Elfman, I've always been a bit of a casual fan. He co-wrote a track with Siouxsie and the Banshees as part of the Batman Returns soundtrack, called Face to Face, and I absolutely love it. All gorgeous swooping gothic strings. That's also my favourite of the batman films.
Good evening PASADENA!!!!!!!!!

Well, she has written the best pop record of the 00's so far (Can't Get You Out Of My Head) and a string of really good songs such as Toxic, Sweet Dreasm My L.A-Ex, S Club Juniors' One Step Closer and New Direction amd Will Young's Leave Right Now. Also, she has been very, very influential as far as pop writing goes, with a lot of writers copying her style.
Does cameos only.
