I think they might want to do it just as a stand against homophobia. Walt Disney was, and the Disney company has been accused for being homophobic...

Wasn't Elton still quiet about his sexual orientation when he did Lion King?

Also, how many copies does the average Disney soundtrack sell anyway? The Lion King was a huge success, but it seems more like the exception than the rule. I can't remember any of the recent Disney films having hugely successful soundtracks.

I mean, for all this talk of increasing sales - every studio album apart from Release has sold more than 1,000,000 copies.

So, I really don't think there is anything to gain.

I think the Tarzan soundtrack was a reasonable success, but yes, the recent Disney movies haven't sold that much. I doubt very much that the political climate in the US has changed that much in the last 10 years, the US has always been a quite conservative country. Yes, Clinton was liberal, but both Houses were republican - so I don't think fear of neo-conservatives is a factor at all.

Besides that, I think it'll be interesting to see how PSB will do in the charts, six years after their last real hit (New York city boy).

I have seen SOMEWHERE an embarrassing old photo of Neil (with 20 years old, more or less) with a T-shirt with the picture of Mickey Mouse on it.

Yes, PSB have no principles blah...blah...so might as well write for Disney.

Come on, like they've never had bad ideas before. As for the idea that PSB are a musical band...Right, yeah? Closer to Heaven anyone? Has anyone forgotten the struggle this awful thing went through? Sure, it may be admirable, but I do believe we were invited to offer views.

It's still a stupid idea, though.

Mickey Mouse t-shirt! Now this is a wind up.

It was in an old photo (I can't remember where it was), you could see clearly. It was very similar to this one (but it's not the same):
