If you'd have bought it from me, I would've sent you some free Andy Flintoff stamps with itPaulo wrote:I haven't listened to it all in one go yet, just played little bits here and there, and I really like it.

back
I was here before, didn't post for months and saw that my name was stolen
I am a huge PSB fans from the start, together with FGTH.
I have also a lot of CD's from the Art of Noise so you can imagine that I am anxious to hear the new album! I am not really a fan of Trevor Horn, but I must say I like almost all the artists he has produced for...
Hopefully it would be tracks like Two Tribes and Left to my own devices and tracks build up properly for several minutes.

Re: Comrades!
Yeah, it would be huge in clubs.... if it was 1992 again. Which its notNYET wrote:Hi,
Very nice CD indeed. I didn't expected to much, but this CD has pleasantly surprised me.
Especially number 1, 5 and 14 are my favourites. And NYET is the best, the first minutes could be huge in the clubs.

It's good to have different opinionsEldritch wrote:I think Nyet is by far the worst thing on the soundtrack. But despite the down-with-Pokemon mood of the forum, I really like the soundtrack and still find it growing in stature. Especially the slower tracks like Comrades! and To The Shore are really haunting and effective.
But I like Comrades and to the shore too.
Conclusion is that the CD is far beyond my expectations.

Interesting work. Sounds like a mix between early Aphex Twin and Bernard Herrmann's soundtracks. Orchestrations are particularly good, sometimes even more than electronic stuff in itself..."The squadron" is possibly the best track, it makes me think of the infamous "Psycho" theme (not "Screaming", btw) with mad violins arpeggio and stuff..."To the shore" is also very nice, a bit like Morricone. Maybe they could have used it as the main theme...

Packaging is also immaculate...catches the eye if there is any eye to catch around for any PSB release...
The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

I've now listened to it a few times... its pleasant enough, has a few nice bits and is all round ok. I like 'To the Shore' but feel the rip-off of the John Barry riff is a little lazy and doesn't show that imagination. Its ok giving a nod to somebody but to simply lift a riff and not take it anywhere smacks of lack of effort. NTFT is no way strong enough for a single. I like 'Full Steam Ahead' and can just imagine it being the backdrop for a scene set within an engine room on a large cruiseliner or battleship (shock !). Track 1 to me is a re-incarnation of a My-Night theme... a scene setting track to bring the thing to life. One could even imagine Billie Trix entering left and introducing the cast !!
All in all... 6/10. Probably a par with CTH. Light years behind Very (9/10), introspective (9/10) or Please (10/10). Way ahead of Release (2/10) and Bilingual (3/10). Cheers JS
