Its simply an evolving art form. House and trance are dead. Superstar DJ's are dead. These are both good things.
Of course dance music is far from dead but I take exception to trance being dead. It might not be the latest hip thing for the followers of whatever is supposed to be cool for the next 5 minutes but the trance scene is hardly on it's knees. The trance clubs are still packed & there are plenty of top DJ's/producers coming through. It has distanced itself from the cheesy shite that was around a couple of years ago which of course is good
As for remixers for the new PSB stuff, I'll leave it to the boys to decide who to use. They don't always get it right but there's normally a couple of half decent remixes of whatever they release.

Pop music is dead? That's a really odd view considering the two best selling albums of the year so far in the UK, Coldplay and James Blunt are both pop albums and I don't think Robbie will sell a lot less than 2 million albums by Xmas...Then there's Madonna, Depeche Mode and the Sugababes.

Of course, New Order would be a terrible choice. And looking back over the Pet Shop Boys remix catalogue, its quite suprising to note that most of the really good remixes come from someone you may not have expected.
The 'safe' remix options don't tend to be as exciting - ie Motiv8. How ghastly they were.
I would like remixes which ones don't sound like typical repetitive songs for clubs and discos. I would like something similar Julian Mendelssohn did with Suburbia (making a new version of the song, more extended and including additional lyrics sung by Neil written by PSB).
I think most of us will apreciate this, a little bit more than another "disco" or "dance" remix.
