Musings - Robbie and Depeche

Two things:

First off, I'm hearing lots of talk about the new Robbie Williams track "Sin Sin Sin" - and how it sounds EXACTLY like the Pet Shop Boys ... not only musically but also in the way Robbie sings on this track. So has anyone here heard it and are the comparisons fair?

Secondly - I would love if the PSB take a leaf out of Depeche Mode's recent offering and go back to using analogue sounding synths - their new album is ace and it works in both a nostalgic and modern way ... come on Neil / Chris ... dust off those old Moogs - please !

To me, the song sounds like a cross between The Lightening Seeds, Electronic and perhaps a touch of Erasure. Not particularly PSB-ish... at least not to these aging ears!

"Sin sin sin" has absolutely nothing to do with PSB except that both songs feature the category "pop music". It sounds like a middle-class Holly Johnson song of his "Dreams that money can't buy" period. I don't see any Electronic influence in it (which would make the song even better), possibly Lightening Seeds a bit. Secondly I won't like the PSB to use analogue sounding synths because I think it's more useful to go onwards than backwards - I find the latest DM quite disappointed, btw.

I thought it sounded more like The Human League.
"To speak is a sin" is said at some point ..maybe that's why people are comparing the two with one another.

still think spread your wings and advertising space are the best tracks on that album by a mile
