Some of the song titles we've heard about (correct me if I'm wrong) pre-date January of this year...
Casanova in Hell, and possibly Luna Park/I made my excuses and left/The Sodom and Gomorrah show....
There seem to be THREE options to explain this:
1) They have been scrapped
2) They will appear as B-Sides, or a seperate 6-track project.
3) When they say they started 'writing' tracks in January, this also involved re-writing/recording tracks that already existed, and in fact these tracks will feature on the new LP (Neil mentioned Casanova in hell as if it were a 'stand-out' song).
Opinions anyone???

Italia 2005

Chris and Neil are currently in Italy writing songs for their next album. Why Italy? "We wanted a change of scenery. It helps to keep the songwriting process fresh."
Their programmer in Italy is Luca Baldini who is also a DJ and member of the dance production duo, Drama Society.
Back from Italy

Neil and Chris have returned from Naples, Italy, where they spent a couple of weeks writing songs for their next album. They have now completed 13 new songs since the beginning of the year. Their programmer in Naples was Luca Baldini.
While there they met the French DJ/artist, Miss Kittin, and listened to her DJ set in a local club, during which Neil gave an impromptu performance at Miss Kittin's request, rapping the the lyrics for "West End girls" over a track she was playing. They also met DJ/producer David Morales who was in town to spin at another local club and dined with the Norwegian singer and songwriter, Sondre Lerche, before attending his concert.
Pet Shop Boys will continue song-writing after Easter and look set to start recording their new album in May.

Chris and Neil are busy in the studio with producer Trevor Horn working on five tracks for their new album due for release in Spring next year.
Trevor Horn produced "Left to my own devices" and "It's alright" for Pet Shop Boys in 1988/89 and recently produced the song "Numb" for them which was originally intended for the "PopArt" compilation but will now appear on next year's album. At the end of last year Pet Shop Boys appeared in the "Produced by Trevor Horn" show at London's Wembley Arena which also featured Seal, Tatu, Grace Jones and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
Songs being recorded at the moment include "Luna Park", "Casanova in Hell" and "The Sodom and Gomorrah Show". The musical style is described as "electronic and quite epic".

Pet Shop Boys are busy rehearsing for their Live 8 performance this coming Saturday. After confirming their participation at the weekend, Neil and Chris have gone straight into rehearsals with Mark Refoy (guitars), Dawne Adams (percussion) and Sylvia Mason-James (vocals). On returning from Russia, Pet Shop Boys will continue recording tracks for their new album with Trevor Horn who is now producing the bulk of the album.

Horn is now producing the whole album with Pet Shop Boys and 12 new songs are being worked on. Mixing of the tracks should commence in two or three weeks

Chris and Neil with producer Trevor Horn are now mixing the tracks for their forthcoming album. It is expected that the album will be finished within the next month and will be released in Spring next year.

Pet Shop Boys have just completed their new album in a West London studio.
The album has been produced by Trevor Horn and features 10 new Tennant/Lowe songs, a short introduction (also written by Tennant/Lowe) and "Numb", a song by Diane Warren, originally recorded for the "PopArt" compilation in 2003.
Neil and Chris started writing songs for the album in January and commenced recording with Trevor Horn in May. Chris Lowe commented: "We've really enjoyed making this album with Trevor and his team and are very happy indeed with the finished result." Neil Tennant added: "We think it's a great Pet Shop Boys album and also a great Trevor Horn record."
The album is expected to be released worldwide in April 2006.
