Excited about the new album?

#1 Post by StevePSB »

Don't know why, but for some reason I'm not that excited. Happened last time too, I just couldn't summon up much enthusiasm.

Maybe it's because recent-ish albums from PSB have been a little bit of a let down (IMHO) and now I'm getting used to it.

Played Bilingual back in the car yesterday, and I couldn't believe how much of it I couldn't listen to. Must have skipped 2/3rds of it...

Anyway, I am hoping for good things this time. Trevor Horn should help to make the album a bit more 'classic' PSB. Maybe I'll get more excited nearer the time.

well sometimes I think one of the best things about the PSB actually works against them. they give their fans LOTS of material.figure in the regular releases, the Bsides, then you have the potemkins, and side solo guest projects, and so I imagine we tend to get saturated.

I go thru cycles when I just cant listen to certain songs or CD's. I dont think it has anything to do with them not releasing music thats up to par, I think when you are a hardcore fan of a group you just reach a point where you have to step back and give it a break. me I am pretty excited about the new CD.

Of course I'm excited - nickname gets excited (I get excited too). Jesus, Oasis are going to be number one in the UK today with some load of sub-Beatles crap and you're wondering whether I'm looking forward to a PSB album or not? I'm far more worried about the people who still think that it's 1996.

Bilingual's a great album; it's just got a dodgy running order and it probably doesn't feel the same on a cold December day as in the languor of summer.

It's the only thing musically these days that i find exciting. I reckon this new album is going to be awesome. PSB know they are drinking at the last chance saloon and i don't think they will dissapoint.

It's better to see Oasis going to be #1 than crap songs of crap groups like Shugababes or whatever.

I'm not that excited myself because, as you said, you get used to it. I hope it's great and I'm glad to get new material and anything else will show up after I've listened to it in April.

Oh right, we were talking about the other Oasis band... the one which isn't crap. Sorry, my bad

Oasis are now a tribute band of a Beatles tribute band. How can you not love Push the button? That's a fantastic pop single.

At least, I don't usually tell lies about PSB on this forum like you do.

For me, the news about the new album are really good because PSB are going to do the kind of songs I always have liked. I love the epic sound. That's why I think this new album will be good but you never know.

Thankfully everyone can decide on its own how a fantastic pop single sounds.

Yes, and similarly how pseudo-Beatles dirges sound.

I´m not excited about the new album. I just wait for it patiently.

"It´s fundamental that we do only exist in our own universe. When you like Pet Shop Boys, you are in our world. This is absolutely crucial to our entire outlook...what we do has an incredibly strong identity and applies only to us. It´s a case of not recognising the existence of anybody else!". Neil Tennant.
