anti-leaking agreements?

does anybody know if things have evolved towards responsibility over the leaking of albums before their release?record companies/ artists sueing?

well I dont know, but I would say in the day and age where a artist can have in their contract rider that their dressing room at concerts has to be adorned with lit scented candles, the temp at 70degrees and have their favorite sandwhich bread flown in from india and the meat from japan and hummas dressing from greece and be awaiting them when they get offstage I would imagine its not out of the realm that they have finally nailed down some kind of legal agreement over promo's they give out and responsibility for leaks

With the recording industry in such dire straits and losing so much money, the biggest culprit in their minds is internet downloading, whether it be before or after the release of an album. Since controlling the stuff after the album is released is so difficult, the only control that record companies have is before the music is released. So this sort of thing doesn't surprise me at all.

Can't say that I blame them, but it just seems weird to me that some artists/bands are so touchy about the early leaks of their material, while other bands practically play half the album before it is even out....whatever- to each his own....

PSB have always cared about presentation so it's never enough to just have the mp3s anyway.

I even get emails of my service provider now for downloading new films

It happened with SAW II they just said lion gate film company would like you to say you deleted it of your hard drive, yes it was deleted but first it was burned

Who'd want a cruddy 128 kbps bitrate version of a song without the artwork anyway? If your hard drive crashes or cd-r becomes flawed, what do you do then?

You do what I've had to do in the past; grasp the hard drive or cd-r in question tightly in your hands, firmly press your lips to it, and kiss it good-bye!

I'm all for buying the original article with all the artwork, lyrics, and pictures they can load into those little jewel cases!
