US release?

world also includes Australia, Asia, South America, Africa....not JUST the US....

Having said that, as a fan in the US, I do understand the quandary....they promoted the crap out of Release, and have toured in the US for their last two albums. So how can they stop now?

Of course, having said THAT- they are getting to the point in the US that it wouldn't be surprising if they soon became relegated to the "import only" status that has claimed so many European bands...it all depends on whether a record label has confidence in them. Considering that PopArt was never released in the US, Release was on Sanctuary, Nightlife was on Sire, Bilingual was on Atlantic, and Very was on EMI, it really wouldn't be surprising if they didn't have a distribution agreement in the US, or were trying to negotiate one.

NOW- as I posted a few weeks ago in another thread along these lines- I did ask redman, and he had not been given any information yet, and that once he has been given info, it will be posted.

In the meantime, it looks like we are just going to have to pad the UK internet sales..... (and yes, mine is ordered already...)

bit limited really;personally I like having stuff on vinyl and also CD. How about four formats/releases counting toward charts, but no more than two can be the same eg. you couldn't have 3 cd singles and 12", but you could have two CDs and two vinyl. because the record company easily can ship import discs to the US and sell them there! No big deal and so the americans can get European discs 'Made in TheNetherlands' with an EMI Canada sticker on it.

That's not the same thing as having it released here. They need to have window banners and displays at the record stores, and radio ads for the album, etc.

It's doubtful that emi would do anything to promote the album in the us...just making it "available" through some vague import policy doesnt cut it for me.

Yes understand, but I think the Pets currently don't have any record company in the States. I really doubt, Sanctuary still do anything for PSB...

PSB hasn't been with EMI in the US since Very, so, no, EMI probably wouldn't do anything to promote the album

(and it isn't the labels that make it available as an import- its the actual store that would go to a vendor in the UK and buy it from them, ship it to the US, and THEN sell it for twice the cost...)

If PSB didn't have a deal with Sanctuary, Sanctuary probably wouldn't keep them listed on their roster of bands....

America - 30 March '06
We would like to inform American Petheads that the USA release of "Fundamental" is under advanced discussion at the moment. We're hoping that it will be released in the USA on the same date as the rest of the world.
It is planned that Pet Shop Boys' world tour will begin in North America (Canada/USA/Mexico) in October.

That would be great...While I sadly doubt the song will do anything or even be released here in America, Micheal is really popular in Britain (from what I understand) so maybe someone will tell him about the Boys and this song.

Not sure if this is a controverisal comparison, but both Earsure and New Order release their albums here...And I think they are both still on major labels. I realize the US isn't the only market out there, but they still have a following here.

I will buy the import and I'm sure others will but if everyone buys the import and the album does get released here later, that will be reflected in the sales and they might get disheartned. Just release it here.

BTW, I believe that "PopArt" wasn't released here because the labels where bickering. That's what I heard Neil say (or write).
