***Getting bad vibes about Fundamental?***

I've now read 2 reviews on here which do not show the album in good light. Do i take them with a pinch of salt or do i trust this nagging feeling that i'm going to be bitterley disappointed? i dont know, i just dont know. All i know is that i harbour hopes that this will be a huge epic pop album on a massive scale and that it returns them to their epic, euphoric OTT pop best...i mean its Trevor Horn for christ's sake!!.....and PSB...it HAS to be amazing........doesn't it?

i live in hope....

NO album is going to please everyone. Like all Pet Shop Boys albums some will love it and some wont. I'm not keen on "Very" or "Introspective" which a lot of people seem to love and my favourite album is "Bilingual." Everyone has different tastes.

Wait until you hear it yourself than see what you think. Simple.

I was thinking the same. But in terms of success. After 4 years i will expecting something which sees them at the top of the charts again. I know that the chart is rubbish because of the songs which are at the top. But PSB make good music and good music deserves a good chart position. For example: Why is a song from kylie "slow" at number one and a song "Flamboyant" reaches number 12. I mean when PSB are at number 2 of the charts it doesn`t mean that the song is bad because of other "bad" songs reaching the same position.In this case the PSB song deserves to be number 2 were the bad song don`t deserve it. Do you get what i mean.
I am one of the persons who wants a top 5 or number one hit again. For some people it is not important if they reach number 1 or number 15 but why???
Judging from the quality of their music they must be at number one.
Someone in the german forum said that he spoke with one of the dresdner Sinfoniker. This person told him that the PSB want really show it everyone that they are back.
So when i listening to the reviews i`m not that excited.

Ok perhaps it changes when i listening to the album for myself. Could be that i say wow this is an album which is worth waiting 4 years for.

But i don`t like the fact that there are so many ballads (it`s not that i don`t like ballads). Three could have been enough.
When i say that i mean it in terms of single worthy material.

A success for the boys would be if someone don`t like PSB and listening to the new album would say: I really hated the PSB but this album is awesome.

Nevertheless i will hearing PSB records for my hole life.

Flamboyant had already been released on Pop Art. Why would anyone with a passing interest in PSB buy it again?

I have to agree. I have rarely been more disappointed with a single package than I was with Flambo.

The Tomcraft version on PopArt IS the definitive version IMHO

I think the same. My hopes about Fundamental are not the same ones that I had with the Popjustice's review.

Not meaning to turn this into a thread about "Flamboyant" only but I don`t like the single mix either. The Popart version is a lot better. As for Fundamental I haven`t got any bad vibes about it at all. We`ve waited a very long time for this and I really don`t think the boys will let us down with this one

They've already made this album. It was called "Release" and many non-PSB fans really enjoyed it if they got to hear it. I don't want an album that psb-haters will love. I want an album that PSB fans will love.

I hope that too but i think that stupid has not that aha effect like it should have as first single in 2 years. It will be entering the charts a number 12 or 14. There were a long time never a single which would be much reconized by the normal record bying public.
I mean every review(new CD or Festival appereance) or every articel about potemkin starts with the sentence: The Pet shop boys are 20 years in buisness and are known for their hits west end girls, it`s a sin and go west.
Why doesn`t these articles start with .....are known for their songs Yesterday when i was mad, A red letter day and Drunk???
Because we fans like them but it weren`t songs which kept in the minds of non fans like songs from Madonna or kylie.
It`s the same when you say to friends that you are a PSB fan and they say: yeah i liked Go west.
So i hope that their will be a next single where people who don`t like them say wow that is really good what the PSB have released. But i think it won`t happen.

I meant that their is an album which of course PSB fans will love BUT also will be respected by other people who normally don`t listen to PSB that much. I didn`t meant that excatly when i said PSB haters.It was just a bit exaggerated.

I think we need to be thankful that PSB has continued to make great music for more than 20 years, and show no signs of hanging it up. There are very few artists that are over 40 (let alone 50) that continue to make hit records.

And the thing I like about PSB, is that their stuff is so utterly unique and listenable at the same time. I can't think of any other artist that makes songs that sound anything like them, and yet just about every song they have ever put out has a hook-driven melody not seen since ABBA, The Beatles, or Mozart.

I'm sure that they wil be recognized as premier songwriters of this era.

yeah thats really it. i think they are making really unique music.

you dont really get too much pop/electronic/orchestra music.its almost a new style.
