Summer Festival Gigs - Setlist?

I know that this is the sort of topic that some of you find irritating in the extreme, but I've got tickets for Thetford and the Tower and am jolly excited....

Apologies out of the way, I've been ruminating as to the possible set list at the festival shows; given that there's a world tour later in the year - which is when most groups would promote a new album - will the festival sets be a few ( four at most ) songs from Fundamental, with the rest a romp through the back catalogue? They wouldn't play the same festival set on a world tour - and vice versa - would they...?

For what it's worth, I think they should open with We're The Pet Shop Boys....

I know Ive got tickets to see PSB, but anyone know who is supporting, if any?

In general, festival setlists are more "greatest hits". Tour concerts are more for "the fans", and you get B-sides, album tracks etc. But I would expect quite a few new tracks this summer.

That's right, but I remember their concert at the Benicassim Festival in 2004. They played sexy northener. Anyway, I am sure that somebody is already setting up a poll on this matters.

If they opened with 'WTPSB', it would be a great excuse for a fantastic back projection of some of their greatest moments, it would get Chris doing vocals - always a delight -, and would act as an aide memoire to everyone just how successful the Boys have been.

Looking at the Tower website, there is meant to be support, but no mention of who. For the world tour, what would be an ideal support would be the Sydney show!! For the Thetford show I think they should just have a kick ass dj and turn the whole thing into a rave.

Since I won't be there they should just play, 'The Sound of the atom splitting', 'What keeps makind alive', then finish with 'TNIFIL', then just switch off the laptop and go home.

I got tickets for Thetford and the Tower too!! I'd love to see them perform Flamboyant and a few from the new album. Not long to find out.....

I'd reckon that it would be similar to the Live 8 setlist, albeit with a selection of Fundamental tracks thrown in there as well.
