I didn't get where I am today

I always loved this track. It was great from the first listen and is still just as great today. I remember going to a party about a month after I had gotten this track and we all threw in one cd into a 5 disk changer and when this song came on, after about a minute everyone was going, "Whats this?...this is a really good song". These are all people who would never know a Pet Shop Boys track past Always on my mind. After it was done playing, my friend played it again. So, if anything, it did catch on with about 10 people that night.

As for Flamboyant, I never really cared for the track, to be honest. There really is nothing special about it to me. I always found it quite minimal and basic. Many here seem to adore this track, but I never understood the attraction. In my opinion, IDGWIAT is so much better.

i agree with you on both, maybe us so cal people think differently than some ....there are some people on here that HATE these type of beatly/oasis type of songs, but I love them

Love it, when i first heard it i played it more then Flamboyant and said it should have been a single ahead of the a side, Hit and Miss is great to but i've been meaning to go back and relisten to Birthday boy, in the past few weeks there has been a lot of talk about this track again so i'm going to relisten and see if i change my mind about it ( it didn't do very much for me the first time round)

For me Birthday Boy was my favourite track off Release, and still blows me away when i listen back.
sodom & gomorrah does remind me of I didn't get where ..... I thought that instantly on my first listen.
And yes...i also have to agree with "wow" from sweden that it does have a "Busted" feel to it too, lol
A great song but i have to say i think it would have made a poor first single had PSB got their own way!

idgwiat has single potential. but it's the same with hit and miss and ... you can't always choose the right song but flamboyant is still a good choice so don't get me wrong.

I wouldn't even mention Birthday Boy and IDGWIAT in the same sentence. Birthday Boy is a career highlight, IMO, while I fail to see IDGWIIT as anything but throw-away filler. Each to his own, though.

Sodom & Gomorrah does remind me of IDGWIAT style-wise, but the former is just much much better.
