Dated

#1 Post by skyhigh »

I've noticed this idea of songs being "Dated" cropping up in several posts. Can i ask why this is ever considered an issue considering who produced the album and the recent renaissance with the 80's sound?

The recent Madonna remix set the tone when it was given the psb "sound".

To me, Fundamental has become all i hoped for in a new psb album. The only exception, currently, being "numb" but i'm sure even that will grow on me.
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

I agree. Integral must be the 3rd single. An early 90's/late 80's stomper.

To me only Integral sounds a bit dated and old fashioned. I think I would've liked slightly darker production, like some of the songs on Disco3. I'm With Stupid is 80s inspired, but in a good way.

Don't understand when people say the whole album sounds dated! The ballads certainly don't for a start!

Integral sounds a bit dull IMHO, a really uninspired melody.
The album DOES sound dated though; the sounds used, the production. It doesn't overwhelm you does it? I mean, Trevor Horn is a genius, but it sounds like this record was already recorded between Introspective and Behaviour and was recovered or something.

Mind you, I do not think this is a bad album in any way, but I strongly feel the sound is dated. At times I regret the band-like production, continueing Release in a way. I would like them to be aproper synth band again!

There's dated in a good way (I'm with stupid) and dated in a bad way (TC).
