Fundamentalism Album Review

#1 Post by davenjulieuk »

Got the new FUNDAMENTALISM CD today....

Heres my quick review

Fugitive (Richard X Extended Mix) (6:06) 10/10

Without doubt the best track of the album... Dont know why this was left of the main album, even if the subject matter is a little risky, Would make a great single much better than I'm with stupid or minimal

Sodom (Trentmoller Mix) (7:24) 8/10

A dark electo mix which starts slowly then builds to a nice mix of sounds about 4 mins and then goes all electro bleep and bops for the last few mins !!!

Psychological (Alter Ego Remix) (7:13) 9/10

Now this is how a minimal electro mix should be done !!!! Basic bassline and dark strings for the first few minutes... Again builds up to some great strings and syths at the end !!!

Flamboyant (Michael Mayer Mix) (7:58) 4/10

Big let down this one - i love the original track and expected a cracking dance mix but no... it starts off with strings and vocals (like the Blank & Jones mix of LCC) - also feature heavily a few samples from other psb mixes... drums kick in about 2 mins in but this could be a fan mix - very unoriginal...

I'm With Stupid (Melnyk Heavy Petting Mix) (6:07) 9/10

The best of the I'm with stupid mixes (apart from the psb maxi mix) - nice electro mix with squidgy synths all over the place !!!!

In Private (Stuart Crichton Club Mix) (5:07) 8/10

As i have posted elsewhere this would be a great song apart from Elton !!! Neil sings the first two lines, then Elton... the song is too low for Elton and it shows !!! At least Neil sings the main part of the chorus.. Very dancy though and good... Nice speaking part from Neil too :)

Minimal (Tiga Remix) (4:47) 8/10

Nice mix from Tiga and i actually pefer this mix than the album version more laid back but still dancy... You can almost see the sun going down in ibiza ! Would like to see an extended version of this mix though as its a bit short... If this is the single version they release this would do well...

Gomorrah (Dettinger Remix) (5:39) 4/10

Starts with strings and vocals, and then not much more... Keeps all the vocals but apart from a litte bass and drum in the background its not really up to much at all :(

I thought that Tiga's remix had finally been replaced by Lobe's remix?

Tiga's remix is only on the Japanses CD and the 12"s that's being released.

Judging by track length, review description, release information (tiga remix only on FUNDA002 12'' and Japanese Fundamentalism), preview snippet, the fact that Lobe is meddling with more ambient aspects than Tiga and that everywhere else this is listed as Lobe's remix...? I'd say you've got a typo there, Dave.

Also, it's spelled Trentemøller.

Lobe's remix is great!

Disagree on In Private, althought the two vocals arent perfect together, it sounds great!
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

I like them all!

The only one that will probably need to grow on me a little bit is Fugitive, sounds a bit boring.

It sounds like most of RX's other stuff tho...I hope this is just an extended mix like
the Enjoy The Silence one he did (which was nothing like the original) and we get the real Fugitive for a B-Side.

Also, it's far from being one of their best songs.
