Would different formats have led to a higher chart spot?
I dunno, which is why I ask. But I would have thought a second CD-single would have outsold either the DVD or 7". Not that the Boys should be so desperate to boost their chart fortunes, but I wonder how well I'm with stupid coulda done.
8 is about twice as good as I expected, as it is.

I'd be inclined to think that anyone who bought the 7", would have bought a 3-track CD mix single had one been on offer instead.
On the flipside, there's people like me who didn't buy the 7" but would have bought a remix single.
How much impact it would have had, I don't know. By the sounds of it, it may have been enough to have gotten it up to at least #7.

I hate the 7" and is filed away - not even played...next time I won't buy it.retrofuturist wrote:I'd be inclined to think that anyone who bought the 7", would have bought a 3-track CD mix single had one been on offer instead.

Would have prefered a CD by far...

Instead of 7" they should release maxi-CD with remixes like Depeche Mode did with Suffer Well and APTIUT. After 2 weeks they still could release 7" and 12" singles which won't be chart eligible.
For me the perfect (chart eligible) tracklisting should be like this:
2-TRACK CD:
I'm with Stupid
The Resurrectionist
MAXI CD:
I'm with Stupid (PSB Maxi-mix)
I'm with Stupid (Abe Duque mix)
I'm with Stupid (Melnyk Heavy Petting mix)
I'm with Stupid (Max Tundra mix)
I'm with Stupid (Abe Duque dub)
DVD SINGLE:
I'm with Stupid (Video)
The Resurrectionist (Goetz B. Extended mix)
Girls don't cry

The dvd was released because Matt Lucas and David Walliams are in the video. The 7" was released because of the novelty value and the fact that 7" vinyl sales have enjoyed a huge revival in the last couple of years. Number 8 is a great chart position and i don't think a remix cd would have made any difference to their position.

I was able to rip the track just fine using dvd audio extractor (you can download a 30 day full use trial at http://www.castudio.org/dvdaudioextractor/)I still haven't heard Girls Dont Cry because the dvd single is PAL and wont play over here.
