Since there has been some confusion about whether PSB were the highest new entry today, I thought I'd add this to the mix:
According to Reuter. uk ---
Soaring 13 places to number two was New York rapper LL Cool J with "Control Myself", featuring actress-singer Jennifer Lopez.
The Pet Shop Boys scored the top 10's only new entry with "I'm With Stupid" at number eight.
The single is the British pop duo's first top 10 hit since 2003. Their ninth studio album "Fundamental" is released later this month.

Is there any way we'll be able to find out the breakdown of sales of the various formats and find out what contribution they made to chart-placing? It would be interesting to know if the decision to release a DVD single on the Little Britian connection was justified.
As an aside, it still seems odd to me that a DVD single counts as a copy of I'm with stupid in the singles chart. For example, did the PopArt DVD count as an "album" copy of PopArt when it was purchased??

This sentence kind of gives the impression they had five flops after Miracles.

But then you have special video charts for video compilations / live shows etc. Not so for DVD single videoclip.joncool5 wrote:No.retrofuturist wrote:As an aside, it still seems odd to me that a DVD single counts as a copy of I'm with stupid in the singles chart. I think it makes perfect sense for a dvd single to enter the singles chart as the dvd contains ONE video and THREE audio tracks. DVD singles are a complete waste of time.Tomas wrote:But then you have special video charts for video compilations / live shows etc. Not so for DVD single videoclip.joncool5 wrote:No.retrofuturist wrote:As an aside, it still seems odd to me that a DVD single counts as a copy of I'm with stupid in the singles chart. Number 8 is better than I thought it would do. For a PSBs song I find it kind of averagy, I don't have Fundamental yet, but I'd be very disappointed if this turns out to be anywhere near the best track on the album!
All that remains to do now is guess where it will be next week. Highest faller? Down 26 to 34?

I'm fully with you, didn't mean my comment as argument with you, but as an additional explanation to retros' post (and to your "No." reply).joncool5 wrote:I think it makes perfect sense for a dvd single to enter the singles chart as the dvd contains ONE video and THREE audio tracks.
