SIREN CD: Shipping Fundamental?

#1 Post by ChoonHound »

Anyone gotten theirs yet or gotten a shipping confirmation? I'm starting to get pissed.

Nope, though I ordered the JP 2CD set and don't know if that's out yet. (It had a 5/22 release date, though.)

Siren did get my "I'm With Stupid" CDs and DVD to me in fast fashion, though, so I'm not too worried yet...

I'd give them a break. The album only came out the day before you posted. Unless teleportation is an option it'll still take three days from shipping to reach you. They may not even have the discs in stock yet, or maybe they didn't order enough initial stock.

Now, if a week goes by and you haven't gotten the disc I can understand annoyance. Two weeks is piss-worthy.

I’ve been pre-ordering PSB from Siren for years and with this batch they seem really slow. I thought they used to ship Priority mail, but not this time. While my I'm with stupid supposedly went out on 5/9 (that’s a reasonable) it didn’t arrive until at least a week later.

If you can’t get me a release by Friday I’ll just go to Tower. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Lucas.

PS, If you pre-order something many months in advance then they should be prepared to fulfill their orders. If Fundamental showed up in West Cost shops this past weekend there’s no reason I should have to wait more then a few days to get mine.

PPS, cracked jewel cases aren’t cool either.

Then why aren't you just going to Tower anyway if they'll be carrying the product? Just so you can get it three days sooner? If I actually had a music shop that carried imports (hell, a music shop PERIOD!) near me I'd shop from them, unless it was distinctly cheaper online.

Incidently, I just got my shipping confirmation froem Siren a few mins ago:

Pet Shop Boys, Fundamental SPECIAL EDITION JAPAN (CC), 2CD
Price: 37.99
Quantity ordered: 1
Number included in this shipment: 1
Charged on this shipment: 37.99

I keep a spreadsheet of nearly everything I order and usually when it's shipped and arrived (excessive ebaying for a while and not recalling if I paid for something or how long ago it was shipped made me start doing this :) ) and Siren's shipments always arrive on the third day after the shipping notice for me. So I expect it in my hands on Monday. How long it takes to arrive is more the Postal System's problem than Siren Discs, tho.

Fact is, there are a lot of variables that can delay shipping - especially with a small company like Siren. This is a company with probably a handful of employees, rather than hundreds like Amazon. Maybe they didn't get their shipping on time, staff was out sick (believe it or not a small publishing house I by from actually tells us when their stock person is out sick when a new book is due to be shipped and that there will be a slight delay!), etc. Like I said - being a couple days late is not a big deal. I wouldn't get upset until about two weeks have gone by.

Lucky you...
Hi Lucas,

I just wanted to give you an update on your order for the special edition
2CD of Pet Shop Boys "Fundamental".

After numerous enquiries we have learned that EMI UK has had some
production problems with the 2CD edition of "Fundamental", causing delays
in delivery to exporters and retail outlets. We are told that EMI will be
receiving stock next Wednesday (5/31). These will be shipped to us
immediately and we expect to be able to fill and ship all orders on Friday
(one week from today).

I apologize for the delay in getting this release to you. I will keep you
updated of any further changes that effect your order.

Best regards,

Evan Strong

Mine came today too. Not bad turnaround at all -- less than a week for the JP version. I'm really glad it came before the postal holiday, otherwise I'd be out of luck until Tuesday.

Very happy right now.

I sympathize; my post above probably makes me sound like a jackass for celebrating. It is a lousy thing to have a pre-order go unmet, whether it's EMI's fault or not.

No man... I got ISM from Tower yesterday and the regular album from Tower the day before. Thay had a ton of Fundamental on Thursday but couldn't tell me when their 17 ISMs were coming. ...turns out they cam the next day. Oh well, the money goes to a good cause. :-)
I sincerely *love* Disco 2 and listen to it straight through regularly.
