#5 is a good position, better than the last few albums they've released for sure

don't forget that the album when it came out was perhaps a little more expensive than some other new releases (HMV was carrying special edition in its stores for £17.99 - ouch) so I suspect this might have had an influence on the chart placing too

Jolly good ! I just hope they stay in the top 10/40 for a bit. I dont think anyone is realistically expecting a million seller, but a platinum would be nice! It would be good if they sold beyond their usual fan base.

Great news and congratulations to the boys! I read on the other forum that it sold 26,492 copies to get #5, almost 10,000 more than both Nightlife and Release. I was a bit surprised the sales figures weren't higher actually. It seems it has definitely found an audience outside the traditional fanbase, but perhaps not as much as I might have expected with an album as good as this. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if it manages to stay in the top10 again next week or plummets like the proverbial rock.

Very disappointing. What did Pete Townsend say when 'I Can See For Miles' did poorly?
"I spit in the eye of the UK singles (or in this case, albums) buying public".

After all the promotion, after all the positive reviews, it makes it number 5. Haven't they heard 'Integral, Sodom and Gamorrah Show, Luna Park, Minimal and Numb?! (I know these have been played exclusively on Radio 2). And what about the BBC Orchestra concert? I'm sorry, but I absolutely have no faith in the UK charts anymore. They can f--- off and by the next boy band record. Losers.

Just you watch. Two of the most anticipated albums in YEARS come out later this year. 'Chinese Democracy' by Guns 'n' Roses and 'Bat Out Of Hell 3' by Meat Loaf. It probably wont make THE top three in the UK. The mind boggles.

who in their right minds would anticipate either of these releases?

i think that 5 is a decent enough position, but what is of more concern is how long the album remains in the charts and sells steadily; if, after so much promotion prior to release and with festival appearances this summer, the album sinks, then emi might just question how much they can afford great reviews if the sales are poor.

It's a good chart result, number 5. PSB can be satisfied about it. It's better than the previous two albums AND this album has the potential to stay in the chart for a longer period. Minimal might cause the album to climb again.

In the Netherlands, the new album entered at #42, which is good, given the fact that nor EMI nor PSB made any effort in promoting it.

After 20 years a Pop group can have a top ten single and a top five album.

Superb. Fantastic Mr Tennant & Mr Lowe.

Lets hope it can hang around in the charts for a good while longer. What would be really good would be some real prime time TV promotion like Jonathan Ross or something playing a couple of tracks..

Maybe there is a little chance for PSB to get a higher position, there are no many new records for sale the next week (Orson, maybe). Some potential buyers can buy the album after the broadcast of the concert on Radio 2 (maybe it has called the attention of some Robbie's fans, I don't know).

And I suppose some UK PSB fans are telling to all their friends how good Fundamental is, trying to convice them to buy it.
