Thanks! Bloody great read.
"Not to knock Grimsby, but we were playing in some weird sports hall there and it was only half full. It was a classic weird collection of Pet Shop Boys fans, i.e. rock fans, people from the local gay club, people who listened to the local oldies station and Undertaker in a bowler hat, all standing uneasily together and you could see them all."

loved the interview. thanks for posting it!
really liked what he said about all the labelling and funnelling that goes on these days, and about feeling almost embarrassed that they haven't "broken up" etc. great stuff.
"We could bring out two albums a year if we wanted to."
wish they would!

Wow. this is probably the best Neil interview -- or PSB interview tout court -- that I've ever read.
Interesting to hear about Neil's politics today, especially after he seemed to be going through a Blairite neocon phase around 2002. Now he's a civil libertarian. I think I've come by a different path to the same destination. Liberalism really isn't something that can be taken for granted.

I saw Morrissey in this venue and it is really weird. Saying that, Grimsby is a bit weird full stop. There was a huge punch up too between "fans". It reminded me of a town near Blackpool called Fleetwood which i consider Salford by the Sea in that it's pretty rough.Janet Street-Porter wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_Nightmares
