fugitive is absolutely incredible. i can't understand why it wasn't put on the album...casanova in bloody hell over THIS?

Casanova in Hell is probably the best single example of songwriting PSB has had to offer in 10 years.

Not really. Having Rufus Wainwright sing it at the Mermaid show demonstrated what a spectacular piece of songwriting it is once divorced from the PSB arrangement.

I agree it would be dangerous to put it out as a single. I also think they might attract the attention of some Islamic Integralist gang who might want to "punish" them for slagging them off (in case they could understand the irony of the lyrics, that is). Well it is a great song and I think it's a good case for them working with Richard X in the future...hell, do a whole album with him!

I think they wanted it to be all Trevor Horn produced throughout. It's almost to overwheleming for the album, IMHO. It's so big and so danceable.

I think the lyrics are dedicated to the two teenagers killed in Iran so the lyrics sre OK for public too. And the track itself is great!!!

my brother just read the above post and said - yeah, PSB and "blow" - sounds about right! ;)

my theory as to why they didn't make it in America whereas stuff like WHAM, Eurythmics, Duran Duran etc did is pretty simple: gay or not, PSB didn't embody that ideal of macho maleness that amercans like to see in their rock/pop stars. even "sensitive" male pop stars need to have that sort of overt male sexy persona etc oozing out the pores. neil and chris, sexy as they are, didn't go for that. they say it themselves: "we don't sell sex."

either way, it does make me a bit sad that the general American population has been deprived of this music. I know what I've missed over the last 20 years, so I sort of have an idea of the lack, I guess.

I agree with most of this. And I read elsewhere that Indefinite Leave To Remain and Casanova In Hell are your two favourite tracks on the 'main' album. Well... my opinion is 100% the same then :)

Fugitive is the best produced PSB track ever! It sounds crispy and fresh. It would have been a perfect single. But instead of that, EMI puts tracks like Luna Park and Numb on the nomination list. :cry: Both have exactly zero single appeal.
