Go West and the World Cup

#1 Post by Janet Street-Porter »

So they don't have number one hits anymore and Fundamental isn't going to sell like the proverbial red hot chili peppers, but who else in the pop world can rouse the proletariat like PSB? Sir Frederick of Mercury perhaps but Coldplay and the like will never echo round stadia as your elegaic hymn to ethereal utopias does.

A operistic version of Go West has been played after the match between Germany and Costa Rica.

It was also played after Netherlands - Serbia & Montenegro. I heard it in the background when Johan Cruyff was analyzing the match on Dutch television.

Are they not playing the original version instead of the PSB one?

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are the most overrated band in the world! All their songs sound the same, "By The Way" sounds just like "Fortune Faded" and the new song, "Dani California" sounds just like those two aswell! PSB are far better, and in a different league compeletely...

As for "Go West", I wish they'd release Ian Wright's version of it that was called, "1 - 0 To The Arsenal"! I'd love to hear it in full. PSB should work with Ian Wright again I think, maybe they should've done a song for this year's World Cup with him?

Actually "Dani California" turns out to be a complete rip-off of an old Tom Petty song ("Mary Jane's last dance"). The two sound practically identical when played simultaneously. This link is quite interesting: http://www.flabber.nl/archief/016440.php
