Never heard it, nor an original version either. The only one I'd heard was sung by Dusty Bin.jamie1978 wrote:Are you seriously telling me you didnt know there was an orginal version of IP?

The Squadron is not trance.
In Private sounds more like a re-recording than a remix as such but it's anybody's guess what state it was in before SC got his trancey hands on it.
I think the Boys said they were bored of trance during interview around the time of D3 but they liked the Blank and Jones stuff they heard while working with Chris Zippel. That might have been the exception.
Still, it doesn't change my view that In Private remix is rather embarassing, and not a patch on the rather fabulous Shep Pettibone remix of the said track with Dusty.

In private
I agree that the "trance", "eurodisco" whatever-you-like-to-call-it backing is a bit... simple to say the least. After the middle eight, which I think is the best part in this version, I would like to hear something more than just that silly beat changing chords.boyjohn wrote:I do like it, but I would like to hear a version without that sound that makes me feel like i am at a rave circa 1998In private is such a great, moving song
One thing I think sounds very strange about this recording is that just when Neil and Elton sing the line "in private"... it sounds like one of them doesn't? They don't appear to sing it the same way; when Elton clearly sings "private", it sounds Neil just go "aah" or something in the background...
