One of the most important things (to me) is if they can actually get Radio 1 to play the new single (and Little Britain will help a hell of a lot if they're in the video) but apart from that I think they should go down the same route as Madonna did before her latest and single were released.
That is push this as a "return to their roots" record. A triumphant return to pop without all the experimenting and acoustic guitars! Madonna's new album wasn't even anything like her early stuff (it's very modern and electronic) but marketing it in this way worked wonders.
And even though they haven't been anywhere, people love a comeback.
