add me to the list of fans of Numb, the PSB versions.
i was as shocked as anyone here when i read they were recording a diane warren song, but was quiet surprised at how quickly it grew on me.

i think the only reason the song works is because PSB did it and its such an unexpected type of trackfrom them. i think the live version is blows the the album version away. i suspect it will be a future single, maybe US only? it could get them back on the radio over here. maybe they held back the track from airing sunday night becuase it will be a future live single?

i wish BBC had aired the entire show. im curious to hear the intros for the unaired songs.
i hope we get the complete show on cd and dvd by the end of the year if not sooner.

Numb would destroy fundamentals image if it were released. its guff and doesnt fit well on fundamental, it should be replaced with girls dont cry which is amazing!! see someones usin my avatar too, weird someone with such good taste likes numb so much!
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

It fits perfectly.

Girls Don't Cry is a cheap You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk knock-off. It's good but no way amazing. Also, that wouldn't fit well on Fundamental.

Chris and Neil liked it enough to
A) record it
B) consider it for their HITS/Singles album
&
C) put it on their brand new studio album

Aside from the small fact that they sound nothing alike whatsoever.

Girls don't cry is quite a good b-side and Numb sounds great... single or not

But I do think that Integral should be the next Double A-Side single with Fugitive ...

I'm With Stupid
Minimal
Integral/Fugitive

Maybe, if we're lucky get Numb!

Not that it matters.

But what do you think, MINIMAL gets them back on, only for NUMB to send them flying back off the playlist again.

In a way, a 'very' PSB thing to do, 'self-destructive.'
It doesn't matter because it WON'T happen, and hasn't for many years. Some 12 year old dullard listeners will not give a toss. And for killing off, there's nothing really to kill off. They haven't been playlisted for a long time.

As far as I'm aware MINIMAL is not on the playlist for radio 1. And I can't see Numb being released. The Diane Warren connection is about as significant as Eminem was to TNIFIL.

Couldn't "Numb" go some distance with the Radio 2 crowd? It could even do some good in the U.S. Not that it would be a top 40 hit or anything, but iot might actually get played, which is more than can be said for just about anything else PSB have released in the last 15 years. (Although there have been surprising reports of "Home and Dry" getting played.)

I'm really warming up to "Luna Park" now -- I wouldn't be at all unhappy if it were released. Or "Sodom," though I don't think that'll happen. But "Numb" would be a stronger single than either of them.

As I said in a previous post - Chris Lowe wanted to get Warren to write up a song which he thought would be made into a single - so it looks like we have single material here with Numb - hey just cause you dont like the song dont mean it should not be a single.

cheers

What do you prefer?, another electronic song?, what's the problem of giving a different sound?.

I love Integral and I love The Sodom And Gomorrah Show, really good songs to be singles (better than I'm with stupid and Minimal, for me) but DW knows how to call the attention of general public, and PSB need that. Numb is a really beatiful song and it's not another typical electronic PSB's song, if you want to call their attention give them something different.

it is the most obvious single sounding song on fund even if people here dont like it.
some say the PSB should start listening to our opinions when deciding what a new single is, I say they should stop.

cause this pandering to our tastes hasnt been working.

Exactly I hate Go West and wish it had not been a single but I appreciate that it did something for them in the 90's and was their biggest hit in the 90's. So for that I am glad it was a single.

btw I love Numb
