Which synth does Chris use on stage?

#1 Post by Deepbass »

Hi,

does anybody know the name of this synth, which Chris uses on the tour? In the former days it sometimes was a Roland JP8000, but I don´t know this one. Is he playing some sounds in every song or is he sometimes pretending? BTW I was there when they played in Bonn and it was really great!!

Nowadays, I think Chris is using a Korg Triton. Back during the Release Tour though, he had 2 nordlead. Most of the time, he uses his synth as controllers although he did play live during the Release tour. It's Pete Glendall that's doing the work in the back :)

yep, it's a Korg Triton during the more recent shows. during the Release tour he had a Korg Prophecy, a Nord Lead 3 & Electro. he also was using a Rhodes keyboard which was later replaced by a Korg Triton. can't wait to find out what Pete has in the synth rig this time around... that is if Pete is going to be with them in the U.S.

But as wizboy is saying - he is most likely using whatever keyboard he's playing, as a controller. So basically it doesn't matter which keyboard it is, if it is triggering sounds from another soundsource.

He must be playing something...
In 1997 he only mimed...

didn't he say something about "pretending" in the Somewhere dvd during the backstage interview ?

The only thing i'm wondering is that during the Release show, Chris needed his own music on stage.

Yup, a controller sends midi events to any other sound sources... he probably uses tons of computers in the back too. I know at some point they were using Properllerhead software.
