Transferring "Minimal" remixes onto CD ...

I've had a quick look and couldn't find this topic already discussed ... apologies if it has been.

I've downloaded the "Minimal" remixes not on the CD/DVD from 7digital and Windows Media Player tells me I need a flippin' licence to transfer them onto CD! Arrgh! Is there any way round this? Cheers ...

Yes complain to 7digital.
When I first got I'm with stupid from Woolworths it had some failure so I got the files but thought it had already sent me the licence to play them.

I bought the order again, then said look Woolworths, I have a duplicate order due to x reason, please refund the first.

when i first downloaded them, I was receiving some errors getting the licenses generated... I'd enter my email address and password for the 7digital site and I'd get a script failed error...

that eventually cleared up... the easiest way should be to open them up with Windows Media Player and play them all first (don't have to listen all the way through) before playing them it should prompt you for a password for the licenses... if this goes successfully and you still can't burn them to CD... then there may be an issue with the software you're using to burn reading the licenses.

It's ironic that I'd be happy to pay for internet downloads, but because of the copy protection, I don't.

So, rather than protecting/increasing sales by means of this protection... in my case, they're actually missing out on a sales opportunity.

Now don't get me started on low bit-rates!!

I used my notebook to download them tonight. I downloaded to my main pc last time which is now a new pc entirely. I got a script error like I did before with Woolworths only this time I were wise to it. So if this happens don't press cancel.

1. Play a file. Before entering user and password, make sure any active script is installed.
2. Enter user and password. If script error. Don't cancel. Use CTRL ALT and DEL and then kill Media Player.
3. Play a file again and enter user and password and file should play.

1. Minimal of 192kbps IMHO unless using .mp4 which is a newer technology.
2. I agree. It is a bit daft when you can rip an audio CD to protect downloads. Either have one or the other. Personally I buy the main formats and collect those. Then I research what tracks are download only and buy only those. This group is great for that.

Then using audio recorders, audio rippers and dvd rippers I can make my own CD.

When you have burnt your files, you then can easily rip them as mp3s. Or you can use tools to record them. Then just tidy the names and tags up.

I refuse to buy internet downloads because the quality just isn't there. I rip CDs as either Flac or 256 kps MP3s. By comparison, iTunes sells stuff as 128 kps AAC. I realise that AAC might be better than MP3, but 128? That's NOWHERE near CD quality.

Also you guys seem to be having so much trouble with the DRM that I'm going to remain clear of downloads.

I've played some 128kbs AAC mp3s on some pretty big sound systems and they don't sound that bad... the quality is definitely lower than the mp3s I generally buy (which are 320kbps mp3s) but not so bad that I would avoid playing them when I DJ...
