Radio 2 concert to be released...

From the official site:

Parlophone will release the complete Pet Shop Boys/BBC Concert Orchestra concert recorded in May at the Mermaid Theatre. The show also featured guests Frances Barber, Rufus Wainwright and Robbie Williams. Trevor Horn was the musical director. The double-CD is expected to be released at the end of September. Full details will be here when we have them.

I was afraid they cut the whole show down to 1 CD and some songs went missing.

That's interesting! As posted here earlier this week, the 3rd single from the album is also due end of September. This (probably) means that it's likely to be one of the songs that featured during the concert:

1. Left to my own devices
2. Rent
3. You only tell me you love me when you're drunk
4. The Sodom and Gomorrah Show
5. Casanova in Hell (Rufus Wainwright)
6. After all
7. Friendly fire (Frances Barber)
8. Integral
9. Numb
10. It's alright
11. Luna Park
12. Nothing has been proved
13. Jealousy (Robbie Williams)
14. Dreaming of the Queen
15. It's a sin
16. Indefinite leave to remain
17. West End girls

This limits the possibilities for 3rd single a bit, although most options are still open: The Sodom and Gomorrah Show, Integral, Numb, Luna Park and Indefinite leave to remain.

I guess the options are:
Numb (I'd be afraid! but kinda radio friendly and coherent with BBC2 mood)
Integral (who knows how this could work on charts!)
SGS (a fan favourite live and remixes been done yet)

I didn't include that, since the version on the live album is sung by Rufus Wainwright.

I don't see why Indefinite Leave To Remain can't be an option. It's short, radio friendly and gorgeous. PSB-fans underappreciate it.

I thought Minimal would be a success, but it seems it won't be. I think there's a good chance that they will pick a different kind of single as the 3rd one. If they also want it to be on the live album, that leaves only Numb and Indefinite Leave To Remain.

Oh, we should also take into consideration that the UK market is saturated! It's about time for PSB to change their promotion plans and start promoting the album in countries where the market isn't saturated yet.

well, no one liked it when I said Minimal would sink (it hasn't, yet, so we shouldn't give up just yet). I didn't wanna be pissy when I said that, it was just an instinct I had. I don't hate Minimal, I quite like it, especially some of the remixes. it figures in my last.fm charts quite often. IMO, it's a fine song, but nothing to write home about. frankly, I didn't and still don't see people other than fans scrambling to buy it.

TSAGS OTOH ...

promotion does matter and it seems PSB have plenty of it over in the UK. so I don't know. then again I see some of you saying that Woolworth's isn't stocking it etc etc... I guess Woolies over there must be like Target or Walmart over here. and plus the dl sales look suspect... anyway, not really good news so far

The double cd that was sent out by Parlophone featured the concert as heard on R2 on one disc and the interviews with the tracks cut from the main show on another disc.

It will be interesting to see what they add to it.

have you seen that disc? has it been mentioned here before? how was the sound quality?
