Now that Fundamental has been around awhile....
where do your top songs from that album rate for you when looking over the PSB's entire career? Is there anything from "Fundamental" - or the b-sides - that you would put in your PSB Top 10 favorites?
For me, "Minimal" may be up there... I have played the hell out of that song. There was one day driving to work (it's about a 40 minute drive) that I just played that song on repeat the entire way, full blast.
I'm curious now that folks have had time to listen and reflect on Fundamental, how do you view it in the "Big Picture" of the PSB's career?

Fugitive is in my PSB top 5, I think. Casanova In Hell is in my PSB top 20, probably even top 15. Nothing else is in my PSB top 30.
I love Fundamental as an album, but there are few total standout tracks for me.

the other side of the coin for me this time around. I think its the CD with the most amount of winners per album as far as all time favorites.
I still cant get over luna park, how awesome and yet weird it is for a PSB song.
but lunapark/minimal/indefinite/casanova/integral/numb. never loved so many songs on one release.

Minimal. Certainly Top Ten. I am very pleased to add a song to the Top 10 list after so many years.
Fugitive, Indefinite Leave To Remain and Integral are up there in the top 25.
I could live without Sodom, Excuses, and of course, Numb.

The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

Interesting to see so many mentions of "Fugitive". I have to admit, it really hasn't connected with me that much... I think i'll give it a few more spins. "Minimal" also seems to be another favorite - what was the reaction on the board when "I'm with Stupid" replaced "Minimal" as the first single, I wonder... I wish I had discovered this place ages ago!!!

my top PSB 20:
Being boring
The Sodom and Gomorrah Show
It always comes as a surprise
You only tell me you love me when you're drunk
Miracles
I made my excuses and left
I don't know what you want...
Jealousy
A Red Letter Day
West End girls
To face the truth
Left to my own devices
King's Cross
It couldn't happen here
Casanova in hell
Fugitive
Go West
One more chance
The sound of the atom splitting
so yeah, a fair bit of Fundamental/ism is in my top 20.

There wasn't much of a reaction, since nobody on the boards had heard either track when the switch was announced.NorthernLad wrote:Interesting to see so many mentions of "Fugitive". It was. I'm With Stupid is another one of those halfway embarrassing singles that doesn't give any indication of the brilliance of PSB and doesn't sell any albums.Dreamcatcher2003 wrote:But now one wonders if it was a wrong step...
