11 years ago Paninaro '95 was released as a single; on 31th July 1995
Let's hear this brilliant song today once more!

I think Paninaro 95 was a mistake in terms of sound.

Woohoo! What a great track. Only which they'd done it in '05, too. Carrying on the tradition. Could've been something great...as usual I have no idea why the majority of this board seems so anti the idea.

The '95 version has aged much more poorly than the '86 version.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think the mix CD of Paninaro was released on 24th July and on 31st July they released the CD Two (i.e. with the single mix and Girls and Boys).

Quite possibly... nowadays EMI try to spread the sales through crap distribution.

I quite like it's reggae lilt. The original mix is the best mix however. Superchumbo mix is good as well though!

I like the original much better - I was listening to it last night, in fact. I do think they were pretty ballsy to release it as a single in 95, though.

However, I think if they wanted to release a prior b-side as a single to promote Alternative, they could have made a better, more commercial, choice. Miserablism, for example, would have been a great single.

I love the 95' remix. it is in my top 5 PSB tracks! I like the 95' way better then the
original ( I love that one also). Also one of the Boy's best videos!

I compose/produce music like many people do. But this has nothing to do with it. I just don't like the sound of the drums (no passion in experimenting with drum sounds - instead it tries to sound like any four to the floor dance track), the bass track, the reggae-like riff, the new melody of the horns/trumpets (seems uninspired) and the sample of Neil repeating the syllable "Pa". The biting oscillator sync sound which Paninaro was famous for is the only survivor of the old sound. The string arpegio in the "You, you're my love, you're my hope..." is very nice.
Maybe the idea of Paninaro (Original and 95) is to reflect the sound of contemporary dance music. Anyway, for me the original is more powerful/electronic/rhythmic/tinny.
