They will own other companies too - Cage Music Ltd for example, and Neil is a director of 'Fundamental Tours which I assume is handling their current touring projects.....so finding out how much they earn each year will only be revealed through their tax returns!

It is rather. However, the Companies House bumpf is public. It doesn't really give away too much, beyond the name of the Pets' accountants.

nice that caring, sharing Bono has followed the Stones example. Nice that money menas so little to him, has that loophole in Ireland been closed then, the one that means artists don't have to pay tax

do they own Cage Music then?, I always thought it was just a standard publishing company

That loophole hasn't been closed yet. But I know it's going to be... sometime in the next century

It's fair enough to wonder. We've been buying the records, going to the concerts, paying over the odds on merchandise for 20 years. I don't want to know every detail, just what the biggest ever royalty cheque they got was

I think by the time they have their advance, pay for the production and their end of the promotion of albums (music videos etc) there isn't a whole lot left. However I'm sure they pay themselves a nice salary and make some big pension payments .....

So the sad reality is, they are probably getting to the point where they would earn more money if they retired and cashed in their pensions, than keep the business runing.

If you look at ticket sales for one night of a tour and then make some assumptions you can kind of get an idea of tour earning:

At a 2000 seat venue if the ticket price is an average $50 and they sell it out, then they'll rake in $100,000 just from one show, just on ticket sales, not merch. How many shows are they doing this year?

I bet they bring in a 2-3 million each this year on touring alone. Probably each year they increase their wealth by 2-3 million on average. They get worldwide royalities on all their songs every year; radio play, licensing, cover acts, on and on. They got a cut of the West End Girls hits. They are RICH! And good for them! And hell, if Neil comes to my West End Boys show, I'll personally give him a $20.
