I'm still surprised are knocking the sales of Fundamental. 50,000+ is excellent going for a pop band are getting on a bit. I don't know what some people expect. 99.99% of bands that were around 20 years ago are either scraping the barrel with mediocre releases and just about making ends meet, or embarressing themselves on some channel 5 reality program.

Well... HAS Minimal sold significantly worse than other recent singles? I mean... they're hardly used to million-sellers, but they're not really used to #19-out the following week either. So maybe they ARE doing something wrong. It's weird, but the most insignificant things do give songs cult status. I think the PSB seem to shy away from releasing things with cult status, though - I was hearing about 'In denial' months before the album came out, on things like Planet Sound. The wideish public knew about this purported single they were making with Kylie Minogue etc etc. So they release three other singles. I admit it wasn't really a single at all but... people at the time were saying it should have been and there was some public knowledge of it.

The football thing might have been helpful if they'd rush-released 'Numb' as the second single instead of what was basically 'Go West part 2' to I'm with stupid's part 1. I guess it's too late to change any of this now but yet again you have to wonder what Parlophone are in fact doing.

Against my better instincts, I wouldn't be so quick to write it off as a single. I think it's a mistake, but then I thought 'Minimal' was a mistake too. It's got... something the public don't normally get from the PSB. The points about the PSB brandname are valid, but what if there were to be an extensive airplay campaign first? If it were playlisted for even a couple of months before its release then the wider population - maybe even 'the youth' - might pick up on it without knowing who it was by. It is, in a weird way, quite hooky. And people might remember it from the montage. A lot of people watched it with a lot of passion. Even if they've forgotten it, hearing it playlisted a lot might jog memories. It could work up something of a following. I don't think either of the first two singles really had that potential. So... whatever. And the irony factor would be increased by having a hit with something that is not only NOT a PSB composition, but is something that a lot of fans flat-out do not like.

They may as well re-record the bastardized Go West played at the end of every World Cup game with the Village People and David Hasselhoff then.

Yeah, like Erasure had their first - and only(?) - UK number one with an EP of songs by ABBA... That was ironic! Not a chance that "Numb" will be a number one though, but if so it won't be PSB's first one.

I'm just glad the group i loved 20 odd years ago are still there.

Name me 5 things still around today from back then.

I picked a winner back then...and i think (for me anyway) that 2006 will be there best year for music with live album still to come!

It is the best song from the album and better than the first 2 releases which in my opinion were disappointing to say the least.

I think even the Boys themselves will believe that had it not been too late to pull Minimal as single #2, the exposure gained from England's exit from the World Cup on the BBC would have meant Numb would have been a big hit then. Not sure now though... missed their chance with this track?

I remain confident that Integral, and the interest with people my age in the track, could and should be one of the most successful PSB singles to this date. It really is a crime if Integral is not released early 2007.
