The Chart That Does'nt Count
I don't know if this has been done before but i've kept a Top 40 of my own since 1984. It's a Top 40 of Fav. songs, as of August 2006 I'm on my 272nd chart.
It can include any version off a song or format...It may also from time to time include non PSB records (ashamed)!
It is a monthly chart.
Any song having been at number 1 in my chart but not now gets a number of months written after the song e.g. DJ Culture 45M = 45 Months.
Some songs can & do return to the top & can add to their number of months.
You may notice all the 'M' months in the chart don't add up to 272, reason alot of No.1's from the chart are no longer in the Top 40, like my first No.1 in chart 1 was...The Floral Dance; Terry Wogan! (Come on, i was a kid then).
TOP FORTY AUGUST 2006
AUG JUL 272 CHART (RECORD 45M).

- 09 06 MINIMAL
= 10 10 DJ CULTURE 45M
= 11 11 BEING BORING 2M
- 12 09 SODAM & GOMARRAH SHOW
- 13 12 LEFT TO MY OWN DEVICES 1M
- 14 13 SO HARD 7M
- 15 14 PANINARO 6M

= 17 17 INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN
- 18 16 PSYCHOLOGICAL

= 37 37 GO WEST 9M
= 38 38 IT'S A SIN
= 39 39 LUNA PARK
- 40 22 IN PRIVATE
Over the years I've had, A-HA, Berlin, Ace of Base, Yello, Maimi Vice, War of the Worlds, Chris De Burgh, Ultravox, Black, Madonna, Electronic & Robin Hood reach number 1 to name but a few.
Because over the last 12 months there have been '3' PSB albums (Fundamental/ism, Battleship Potemkin) this has removed all non PSB from my chart for the first time ever. (Last non PSB song on chart was 'Mad World').
Enjoy, the chart that does'nt count!

I did a weekly singles Top 20 between 1998 and 2004. All PSB singles released in that period (I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more, New York city boy, Drunk, HAD, I get along, London, Miracles and Flamboyant) made #1.
If memory serves me well, Drunk was at #1 for the highest number of weeks, I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more just spent 2 weeks at #1.
I quit doing the chart in 2004 because I didn't hear enough new singles anymore to keep it interesting. Some of my friends still compile Top 20's, 30's or even 50's, but I don't know most songs in their charts.

There's nothing embarassing about it, certainly because your Top 3 is the same as mine
Are you telling me that you didn't compile a list of your favourite PSB tracks? And shouldn't you participate in the Rank The B-sides thread?

I keep a record of how many times I've listened to songs. I've done a thread called 'Fundamental playcount' somewhere but I've stopped updating it so I don't look a tw@t.

There's nothing embarassing about it, certainly because your Top 3 is the same as minePersonally, I find it hard to compare studio albums with greatest hits collections. It's an unfair comparison.
Are you telling me that you didn't compile a list of your favourite PSB tracks? And shouldn't you participate in the Rank The B-sides thread?
Yes i have done a 'Rank the A & B sides tread.

Have you ever heard of www.last.fm ?Being boring wrote:I keep a record of how many times I've listened to songs. I've done a thread called 'Fundamental playcount' somewhere but I've stopped updating it so I don't look a tw@t.
It's a website that can automatically monitor and count the mp3's you listen. Just make sure your mp3's have tags (file information).

As I say, I've given up on doing that at risk of looking like I have nothing better to do.
I have to stop writing lists!
