and i dont think it was offensive to the fact there was no clear/direct implication that it was bashing or mean spirited...i beliebe will ferrel was a cowriter of movie as well....all in all i think it was good for psb rather than bad...and yes, i agree the movie was funny too!
To be sure, I did laugh my ass off a number of times during the movie. But I'd have to disagree somewhat. What I didn't like about it was that it perpetuates the stereotype that PSB is a gay group and only gays listen to them. As such, I think that would actually serve to limit a vast majority of the watching public from ever giving PSB an honest listen. Granted, it wasn't an overt message, but it's the subtle ones that linger.
honestly i am always amazed to find out that str8 guys listen to them
In the silence of your room
In the darkness of your dreams
You must only think of me
There can be no in between
When your pride is on the floor
I'll make you beg for more

Seal and PSB do not make the same kind of music, despite the Trevor Horn connection. Seal is MOR, PSB are synth pop.

You'd be surprised. Do you think they've sold 20 million records purely to gays over the last 20 years?
A lot of guys in their early to mid 30s (gay & straight) like them from when they were teenagers, and lots of women of a certain age too, they just love Neil's lyrics.

Nobody apart from a Pethead is gonna put that much thought into it...

The idea is that people think

Pet Shop Boys = gay = hahaha!

There was a poll whether the fans online are gay or straight. Most of them were straight (I´m not)
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

ALL of the people I know IRL who're Petheads are straight (AFAIK). I don't think of PSB as a "gay" band. just me, I guess. I am in absolute love with Neil's lyrics and with chris/neil's melodies, as well as their sensibilities on the whole.

I did like Will Ferrel's turn on SNL. haven't followed him since then. I stopped following SNL grads' careers after Dana Carvey tanked on the big screen (IMO).
I wooooooooooooooood if I cooooooood...

I loved when will farrel played the uber german father who was trying to get his baby who was in a stroller to be more interested in a huge battleship that was docked at a pier nearby then at a candy wrapper the baby was playing with.
he was screaming at the child "look at the glorious metal beast!!

the baby had no interest in the battleship and kept playing with the wrapper and farrel goes YOU CONFOUND ME!!
