Info on Here version
Hey, I was wondering if anybody knew anything at all about a version of Here I've downloaded. I got it a couple years ago when I was starting to get into the PSB, and since I live in Canada it has been hard to compile their entire catalogue (basically internet and used CD store shopping is how I've got their material), so I relied on downloading for a while. I recently finished my collection with Release, but was surprised when Here (one of my favourite songs) was different to the one I'd downloaded a while back. I'd like to know anything about the different one like if it was on another single or something, so that I could buy it, because I find it's much better than the album version. Neil's voice doesn't echo, the tone is more subdued, and the track starts with Neil speaking a dialogue between two arguing people. He even swears, 'f'ing your daughters head up', which I love.

I am not aware of a different version. That sounds interesting to listen to. I guess it hasn't been officially released anywhere then? But ah well, I think it's superior to the album version, the song seems more fitted for a low-key approach, and Neil's speech is interesting. If I can remember it, it's something like:
I should go home, at least over there people die for a cause,
I suppose you're gonna have a go at me now, f'ing your daughter's head up,
whatever you felt mate, I felt it too,
no mate, I never wanted to have a pop at you
(singing) Just look at you, another boy becoming man, I've watched you grow,
and you should know, you'll always be as special as a son to me,
but nothing more, I know the score,
and while we're talking man to man I cannot help but give a damn,
you can't walk away, you're much stronger than that,
you're gonna be, something special,
you're gonna be, something special...
Then the music ups a bit and goes into Here. Wow, that's pretty accurate, I've listened to it countless times I guess.

That is pretty good. So where exactly can I find this version?whateverman42 wrote:I guess it hasn't been officially released anywhere then? Those few seconds of the promo mix are nothing really. The demo version is a different thing. If you listen closely to the second verse you wil notice that it is identical to the album version. That's because the leaked demo has a lot of hic-ups and skips at that point and some people repared it with the album version.
There were a lot of demo's around at that time like Tall thin man, a version of Ckoser to heaven with spoken lines, Little black dress and a dozen more or so.
