Agreed. I think it conveys the emotional aspect of the song very well... and whilst being stylistically different, it's not unlike the emotions expressed in Anton Corbijn's 1988 filmclip for Joy Division's "Atmosphere".

Nice conspiracy theory! You could well be on to something, actually.
Are you sure this be the "Official" video? I thought PSB will be using an edit for the single. This version is the full album version.
Yo, Mr. Dopeman, you think your slick;
Ya sold crack to my sister, and now she's sick.
But if she happens to die, because of your drug;
Im puttin' in your culo, a .38 slug!

No, see the official website for details, but the official video is edited to the album version. I wish Minimal was...
I just want to post here some of my minds about this video but then i see this:

It`s very russian to my point of view... snow, uniform, I notised one russian word there which means "brave". The video reminds me about Blockade of Leningrad (old name of St.Petersburg city) during World War 2.
There's everything is clear why i've feel the same...

That's it! Immediately before video, i listen "No Time for Tears [orchestral mix]" (to gather oneself up) and i swear i can heard it when video start!
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)
The video for "Numb" (edited to the original album version) has recently been completed and is described by the directors as "an icy emotional landscape of borrowed dreams, sewn together with the power and style of Russian constructivist cinema". You'll be able to see it on this site soon. (Actually, you can already see it on Popjustice.com. Link below...)
Don't they write on the official site that the single is released in an EDIT and as NEW production? If so, how come the audio track in the video is still the a) original b) fulll-length album version (or isn't it?)?

Yes it is, it says so on the official page. I have no idea though why they wouldn't use the edited version. Perhaps it wasn't finished yet and production for the video had to start, or they just didn't decide to do a new version until after the video was completed.
I'm surprised PSB/Parlophone aren't a little annoyed the video has been leaked. Of course, it's all good publicity but the YouTube video is pretty poor quality, so I guess they would be a little annoyed about that.
