Minimal

#1 Post by mole973102 »

Keep playing Minimal even now...really grown on me.
Think I prefer it slightly to I'm with stupid...odd as I didn't like it as much to start with.
I really like pumping out the Minimal (M-Factor mix). Might make myself a Disco4 soon.
In fact even some of the mixes done by Minimals I like listening to... :)

Played a lot of their tracks on the ten or so dull hours on a coach to Newcastle to see a sexy Northerner.
Fundamental I am addicted to still...I thought I would be bored of it by now.

It occurred to me in one of the many thoughts you have when stuck looking out of a window for ten hours (twenty if you include return) that some of the b-sides that are slow are quite nice. They tend to try catchy dittys as a-sides. Some b-sides are quite nice songs and maybe would be interesting to see how they would fair had they been a-sides.

Also at least three PSB songs are also tv shows.
Like I'm with stupid (which came first?), Absolutely Fabulous and I forget the third...not Clothes Show though...

I thought that Minimal would be a much bigger hit. It is much better than I'm With Stupid.
Hello my name is Neil Tennant and I'm Chris Lowe and we're of the Pet Shop Boys.

Minimal is a better song but I'm with stupid is a much better single - it's a classic four-minute, radio friendly and catchy pop record. Minimal is my favourite track on Fundamental but right from the start I questioned whether it would be a good single as it is lyrically quite sparse and lacks the hooks necessary to be a big hit.
Passion, love, sex, money, violence, religion, injustice and death. More on that story later.

My favourite too. To my great disappointment, Neil & Chris didn't make an extended version (or maxi-mix, or whatever they like to call it) of Minimal .
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Not one of the best off Fundamental. It's certainly not better than I'm with stupid but the Tocadisco remix of it is fantastic 8)

'Minimal' was the first single release not to reach number 1 on 'My chart that does'nt count' since 'New York City Boy'.
Attitudes are materialistic
