A bit NUMB for NO TIME FOR TEARS
I am currently listening to the 7 inch mix of No time for tears & can't help wondering if it had been released as a single in advance of PopArt would we have Numb to look forward to ? IMO No time for tears is an exceptional song. Not saying Numb is not but if a ballad had to be released & the only reason No time for tears was not released is because Neil was worried that it "wouldn't get any radio play". Suerly this applies to Numb. I think in the eyes of Neil & Chris & even the record company Numb has always had the potential for being a good hit, after all it was written for PopArt.

"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."

Simply that Numb was penned for PopArt & No time for tears was considered as a single, Couldn't have two ballads surely ?Drem wrote:Whatever do you mean by thatActually wrote:I am currently listening to the 7 inch mix of No time for tears & can't help wondering if it had been released as a single in advance of PopArt would we have Numb to look forward to ?

Numb is 2003
PopArt is 2003
First Live Show of Battleship Potemkin is 2004
No Time For Tears Scheduled For Single Aug 2005
Battleship Potemkin released 2005
Numb included on Fundamental 2006
Numb is single October 2006
The question is: Was "No Time For Tears" even recorded before PopArt? If not then they was no way it could have been released as part of PopArt.

If Numb was kept on for PopArt then it would have been a single in 2004 or 2003. If No time for tears was released as a single, it would have been 2005 (mentioned in Literally #30).Actually wrote:Simply that Numb was penned for PopArt & No time for tears was considered as a single, Couldn't have two ballads surely ?
I don't see the connection.
I love NTFT, it was the best b-side of Minimal IMO
