The mess that is ITUNES and NUMB
Lordy.
I've been wondering all week why ITUNES doesn't have the accapella version of numb along with the 12 inch of Psychological.
Type in Numb and not much comes up other than the EP and the album.
However, type in Pet Shop Boys and plow through THREE pages of PSB stuff and you finally find it!
It seems that NUMB is challenged at every level of retail!

Numb is a complete mess I think.
Fundamental is a brilliant album and I play it alot in MP3 format (don't think touched the CDs yet!) but as singles go the strongest have already been released. Numb is a dumb affair IMHO as is a depressing, miserable song and not one you want to play over and over in the same way you do Shopping, er I mean Minimal.
(Minimal is not their best ever song. Is very ordinary, they've done better catchier works, but as something different and as a new song I'm not bored of it yet. Slightly prefer more now than I'm with stupid. Even the Minimal video looks lazy and like getting bored of making them. That I can understand, but don't pretend.)
Plus not being around they are not in the video and can only plug 'Numb' by a non-UK concert!!!! ????
If I were them Numb IMHO is a very bad choice, ok fans granted will buy it, but it doesn't have any chart substance. A real waste of time making a single and even the bonus tracks are pathetic. I mean Acappella? I cannot play it, it is awful. Looks like done in two minutes with a bit of echo, track 1 and that'll do attitude.
I think fans would like Integral as a single but whilst I love this as an album track, it won't stand as a single IMHO. Though be better than Numb a) because catchier and b) the message, but it still is not a single. I think there aren't any. As a b-side remix though, this is a fantastic choice as a) an excellent message and b) may get publicity - see a) and c) a great song. Numb/Integral would have been the most sensible idea IMHO.
I'd have rather bought a cd with some new b-sides, even the mixes that are available are dull. At least you can download as opposed to being stuck with a 12" I haven't even been able to buy yet. I would have liked the BYT demo or even the You've gotta start somewhere song than some of these mixes.
Very disappointing and more likely to live on my shelf than in my cd player.
They can't even decide what formats to stick to. I mean one min dvd another cd and Quicktime. So not as if that is consistant. So annoying if can play Minimal as a DVD but not Numb. Plus you could make a dvd compilation except some are dvd and some are QT. Can't they please decide what formats they want and stick to it? This time round I've had to rebuild all the formats with every new single to make a version that is easy to play.
Numb (UK maxi-single) (CD3)
01. Data Track - Numb (The video) and iTunes 7.0.1.8 and Key (N/A) - I can rip dvd and at least it would have been consistant.
02. Pet Shop Boys - Numb (New radio version) (3:32) - is ok
03. Pet Shop Boys - Numb (Original demo version) (3:42) - is similar
04. Pet Shop Boys - Numb (Accapella version) (3:32) - where is the Samaritan's number?
05. Pet Shop Boys - Numb (Album version) (4:47) - got it, why not BYT (demo)?
06. Pet Shop Boys - Party song (3:47) - probably the best track and not the A!
07. Pet Shop Boys - Bright young things (5:00) - Not too bad, unsure if the demo is better!
08. Pet Shop Boys - West End girls (Live at the Mermaid Theatre) (4:58) - Do we ever get any other track than West End girls live? How many releases of it now?
09. Pet Shop Boys - Psychological (Ewan Pearson vocal remix) (8:39) - Prefer Fundamentalism version slightly more. Bit instrumental.
10. Pet Shop Boys - Minimal (Chris Lowe's Summer mix) (4:21) - Not released, so I did. Rubbish though, due to software limitations. (see my hack post)
11. Pet Shop Boys - Bright young things (Leaked demo version) (4:29) - I like this, shame is an illegal copy.
12. Pet Shop Boys - Minimal (M-Factor mix) (8:47) - The best on whole CD and not even part of it! :(
P.S. Bet BYT (demo) is being saved for Fundamental: Further Listening...

All you need is the singlesDJ Fairborne wrote:On ITunes UK, I just checked and the Acapella version of "Numb" is on there, aswell as the Ewan Pearson Vocal Remix of "Psychological" and it's listed all together with "Numb", as 1 E.P. Type in PSB and in the results it's 61 out of 61.
and 1 EP.
I got mine from Woolworths (begrudgingly) as clearer as wma. But burn to CD and then rip as .wavs to burn more than 3.
If it fails, then you use 1x burn up. Great eh?
Also make sure you click all the install licence addon bits carefully or you'll pay twice.
I've burnt a playable/rippable CD and then ditched the downloads that restrict usage.

I think the non-DVD release of Numb is a direct result of the fan complaints about the format. Whatever PSB do, some fans will always be disappointed.mole973102 wrote:Numb is a complete mess I think.
