The 10 number ones of Pet Shop Boys
The radio musical channel with biggest influence in Spain is Los 40 Principales. It's the second radio with a biggest audience (and the first one in musical radio). This radio channel has a chart which is very famous here in Spain (in the 80's and 90's it had even more influence than real Spanish charts).
According to this report (in Spanish) they have 10 number ones.
19/11/1988
'Domino dancing', número 1 de Los 40 Principales
Hasta 10 números 1 acumula Pet Shop Boys a sus espaldas en la lista
de Los 40 Principales. No podía ser menos para un dúo, Neil Tennant
y Chris Lowe, que apostó por el pop-electrónico y se convirtió en
referentes de la música durante los 80, los 90 y el inicio del siglo
XXI. Grandes canciones como West End girls, It's a sin, Suburbia,
What have I done to deserve this? o Love comes quickly. Domino
dancing también siguió la senda y se alzaba al número 1 de Los 40
Principales un 19 de noviembre de 1988.

- Domino Dancing
- Being Boring (I'm not really sure about this one)

They broadcasted an interview with PSB last week and played the PSB favourites songs. Neil and Crhis were talking about their radio memories. Los 40 Principales are celebrating their 40 years birthday. Now, they have their own awards called: premios principales.delusions wrote:nickname wrote:I wasn't talking about singles, the REAL results of the singles in Spain were:dVTB wrote:*sigh* in the Netherlands they had NO number one singles. I have no idea how many number ones they've had in Denmark, but I'm sure virtually every single they've ever released has been top 10 or at least top 20, but that's not really due to PSB being huge here, but due to PSB having quite a few die hard fans in Denmark coupled with a more or less non-existent singles market.

Well, it's not self-evident that PSB singles are actually in store. The singles market in NL is about the same as in Denmark, I guess. But in Dutch shops, many cd-singles can't be found. Other singles are for sale at 2 euro. Goodbye fair competition (btw: Numb wasn't even released in the Netherlands anymore)BlueSwan wrote:I have no idea how many number ones they've had in Denmark, but I'm sure virtually every single they've ever released has been top 10 or at least top 20, but that's not really due to PSB being huge here, but due to PSB having quite a few die hard fans in Denmark coupled with a more or less non-existent singles market.
Denmark is very PSB friendly. Their current hits may be due to loyal fans, combined with a poor singles market, but PSB also had hits in your country when the singles market was still fully alive.

Re: The 10 number ones of Pet Shop Boys
I have to say that Being Boring wasn't a number one. I think it was Heart, but I'm not sure.nickname wrote:The radio musical channel with biggest influence in Spain is Los 40 Principales. According to this report (in Spanish) they have 10 number ones.

Having said that, I agree with you; the single charts are as good as dead here in .nl.
And I'm still waiting until Plato has Numb for me. :-/

I know this link, Leesmapman. But it doesn't mean Numb is released in NL. My good friend Maarten (fellow PSB fan) works at Plato and helps to maintain this website. He informed me some time ago that Numb was NOT released in NL, and that Plato would order some copies on import. I received mine, in the meanwhile.leesmapman wrote:http://www.plato.nl/plato/view.php?catalogue_id=174623dVTB wrote: (btw: Numb wasn't even released in the Netherlands anymore)
