As far as I remember Go West had entered the list at number 9, then jumped to number 2...
The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

I remember the time well. Entered at number 2. I went nuts because I had given up by hearing number 5 on the radio, thought they'd bombed.

Then the following Friday they had a PSB day on Radio 1 with the Boys present & they said DJ "It's looking good for number 1 on Sunday" & the Boys said "We'll see". It stuck at 2 with Will Smith going to number 1 with Boom Boom Shake the (bloody) room :grumble: I'm over it now. :x

Yeah, I remember that. Simon Bates said "Go West will be number one this Sunday", and Neil replied "Well, will it?".

It was probably number one in the midweeks.

I think I read somewhere that AB FAB isn't officially a PSB single

A little bit of sadness looking at that chart! The time of Very seems so far, now a PSB's single remains in the charts less than a month in UK, and less in others part of the world :(

It's sad, but at least it shows that there is still a reasonably sized fanbase willing to buy the records and try to give it a high chart placing. Unfortunately they fall out of the charts quickly after that.
