Now that I've picked myself up and dusted myself off, I'd like to say....Why the hell are the bloody Pixies the headliners? Forgive my ignorance, but who ARE the Pixies? OK, I admit I've heard of them, but I don't know a single thing they've ever done, and I don't think they've ever scored a hit in this country as far as I know. Compare that to 18 or so top 40 hit singles, and 6 or 7 top 10 albums, and PSB are relagated to play second fiddle! Tut tut tut, i think I'd be outraged except for the fact that I'm so damn happy that they are just coming! Let's hope and pray for some additional shows in smaller venues like the Opera House though.

Now "official" per the official site:

Pet Shop Boys will play their first concerts in over a decade in Australia next year as co-headliners of the first V Festival Australia. Two dates are being announced now but there will be more. (Other Pet Shop Boys shows around the world in 2007 will be announced over the next few weeks as they are confirmed.)

From the official press release:
"Virgin Group and Michael Coppel have teamed up to bring V Festival to Australia. The inaugural Australian V Festival will be held in two locations:
SATURDAY MARCH 31 - CENTENNIAL PARK - SYDNEY
SUNDAY APRIL 1 - AVICA RESORT – GOLD COAST
Pixies Pet Shop Boys
Groove Armada Gnarls Barkley
The Rapture Phoenix Soulwax
Nite Versions 2 Many DJs
Softlightes Bumblebeez
The Temper Trap Mercy Arms
More to be announced…
Tickets on sale MONDAY DECEMBER 4TH at www.vfestival.com.au & all Ticketmaster outlets(130 799 753): $124:40 inclusive (transaction fees may apply).

"From Pixies, Pet Shop Boys to Phoenix the Australian line up fits V's international ethos by bringing together a rich variety of influential bands, many of whom have never toured our shores before. With more to be announced during the coming months, the first set of V headliners confirms the diversity that is the trademark of V.
"Tickets will become publicly available from Monday 4 December, however V Festival fans will not get their event tickets in hand until early March. In an effort to ensure that tickets reach the hands of real fans (rather than those hoping to resell at inflated prices) we will be issuing every customer with a receipt as proof of purchase when they buy, and mailing tickets to their nominated address prior to the Festival.
"We will also release a limited 'last minute' allocation of tickets 3 weeks before the Festival date so that the market is flooded with tickets at the V Festival price."

You're a bit sad if you think people choose whether to be homosexual or not.
Evertonians are born not manufactured.
We do not choose; we are chosen.
Those who understand need no explanation.
Those that don't understand don't matter.

Maybe there'll be other gigs, as surely Melbourne deserves a show?

You bet, I'll be there, front row, hands in the air, whooping it up :D
I'm guessing since the Pixies are the headliners (which I'm still miffed about), PSB will be second last on the bill. If I have my way I'll be leaving before the bloody Pixies come on, don't want my PSB experience to be tainted by some grunge-fest. Unfortunately I think the other half quite likes them so I may be forced to sit it out with ear plugs. Or maybe I'll take my iPod and listen to PSB instead

Pixies have got about 3 good songs (especially Debaser and Here Comes Your Man) but most of their songs are boring American whinging rubbish.

Here's hoping for a non-festival Melbourne gig for the PSB!

Retro. :)
