Tracy Thorn vs PSB
Sorry if this has been posted already....(then I missed it !)....
Tracy Thorn (Everything But The Girl for those who don't know)
Her new album....
my main collaborator/producer is Ewan Pearson, and we've done seven tracks together. A cover of Arthur Russell's Get Around To It, featuring some wonky freakout sax from Gabe of The Rapture. A new song called It's All True, co-written with Sasse and Darshan Jesrani (Metro Area), which is pure early 80's New York dance pop. A piano ballad which Ewan says sounds like "The Carpenters on acid", and a cover of the Pet Shop Boys King's Cross, featuring harmonium and a brass band.. The album has now finally been delivered to the record company and it's scheduled for release on Virgin Records next February

It reached number one in 1995 or around that time. albeit a little bit later than European charts, maybe one and half year...transforce wrote:Excellent news. I've always loved Tracy's voice.
Surely 'Missing' with it's Todd Terry mix was a hit in the US?
EBTG is a helluva British band with their hearts always in their music...
Along with Always on my mind by the Boys, Missing (the mix) is my all-time favourite tune...
The CELL by Stephen King instantly hit number 1 in New York Times Bookseller Lists selling well over 200 thousand copies in three weeks. This affirms my opinion: People really need an occassional good horror read...

"Missing" was indeed a hit in the US. This weekend, I was dismayed at a club to see that some Euro act has already covered "Missing" with a shirtless male singer, cheap dumb video, dancing girls.. just dumbed down to damned nothing so the stupid teens like it, i guess. god, 11 years ago and already they're mining it.

You can hear a snippet of Tracey's first single "It's all true" on Ben Watt's Buzzin Fly radio show (through Dec. 2). Just go to: http://www.buzzinfly.com/buzzradio.html
Click on "Part One" and advance to the 11 minute mark. It's beyond words. Fantastic.

I checked them out. Didn't really like them to honest o_OTom Angel wrote:To ! I can almost guarantee you'll like their last two album, the lovely deep house vibe Tempermental and the album before called Walking Wounded - both, after a few listens are sublime.
Anyway, I found Tracy (or Tracey) is on my Tiefschwarz album so I have heard her!
