Reading got a bargain in Kevin Doyle, eh?joncool5 wrote:Yeah that's true. I saw a couple of games while in Dublin last year and the standard of play surprised me. It seems that English clubs are now starting to notice the talent on offer and bargains can be had.Niall wrote:There seems to be a good crop of players who have recently come from the league of Ireland and are really making names for themselves.joncool5 wrote:We beat Cheltenham to go within 3 points of the play-offs. We have an amazing player on a season loan called Wes Hoolahan who must be the best player in League One, we need to sign him up though because some Championship clubs including Sunderland have been keeping an eye on him.
I was talking to a Shelbourne fan about Hoolahan and he said that he's one of the best players that had played for them in recent years and we should enjoy him while we can. He doesn't have a great deal of pace but his ball control, flair and vision is the best i've seen in a Blackpool player since Trevor Sinclair.

Evertonians are born not manufactured.
We do not choose; we are chosen.
Those who understand need no explanation.
Those that don't understand don't matter.

This is why your lot could only half-fill Goodison for a midweek League Cup game then, while Liverpool had to turn people away from Anfield for their cup game the next night is it? I suppose all our fans flew out from Ireland and Scandinavia just for the evening did they?Niall wrote:What Drico says is true

Oh, that's very nice that is. Typical of Evertonians - rant and rave and then when asked to back their opinions with FACTS they resort to flinging insults.Niall wrote:Shut the f*** up yourself, gobshite.

While it should be noted that we are talking about Liverpool (I live in Manchester), I agree with Niall. Liverpool within Liverpool is very similiar to the situation of Utd in Manchester. Everyone other than Utd fans knows that City are the main team within Manchester and Utd fans are too half-witted and self obsessed about their team to admit it because they've won loads and can't see the wider picture. Liverpool fans suffer the same due to the success they've had and because they think they are football giants. Recent success in Europe and the FA Cup doesn't hide the fact that Liverpool haven't come anywhere near to winning the league since 1990. So really, Liverpool are worse than Utd in that respect as they have no excuse for their ignorance.

Shame that they apointed Houllier and Benitez who have shown a distinct lack of respect for the history of the club.DJ Danny C wrote:That's just not true at all. I mean, I really don't care where our fans come from, but what you're saying ain't true.Drico One wrote:But in reality, Everton are the biggest supported club inside the city of Liverpool.
Just as well your opinion is worth about as much as horseshit then! The chairman and CEO have worked hard to find an investor who will respect the history of the club.As for Arab investment, I'd be seriously worried if I were a genuine Liverpool fan. Selling your soul and heritage to billionaire investers in the hope of competing for silverware is always a dangerous game. Genuine clued-in Liverpool fans understand this. The identity of the club is in serious danger, in my opinion.

I don't understand what you mean here. In winning the European Cup, Benitez has continued one of the fine traditions of the most successful club in British football history.Shame that they apointed Houllier and Benitez who have shown a distinct lack of respect for the history of the club.

Liverpool and Manchester United are far bigger than their nearest rivals. Of coure you will see plenty of Everton and City shirts in their respective cities, you will also see plenty of Liverpool and United shirts.
The reason they are so well supported outside of their citites is because they are so successful. Everton and Man City have struggled for a long time now. Everton have won a cup and are looking like a half decent side but spent many years fighting relegation and Man City have just clawed their way back from division 2.
Knocking a clubs support that comes from outside the city is usually down to envy and jealousy. Every club would love the support that Liverpool and United get. They would also love the history of success they have gained.
I still hate the fu*kin lot of them though

Well in Manchester, City definitely have more fans and while I'm not doubting that there aren't Utd fans in Manchester most the Utd fans I know from the city rarely attend. There are a lot of Utd fans in Salford but technically that's a city in it's own right.Undertaker wrote:Liverpool and Manchester United are far bigger than their nearest rivals. Do you always get this offensive when somebody has the audacity to playfully suggest things aren't as rose-tinted as you'd like to believe?DJ Danny C wrote:Just as well your opinion is worth about as much as horseshit then! A remarkable over-reaction. Have I touched a raw nerve?

"Unprofessional? Us? Sir. Might I with due respect remind you that Mister Vandemar and myself burned down the City of Troy? We brought the Black Plague to Flanders. We have assassinated a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods. Our last commission before this was the torturing to death of an entire monastery in sixteenth century Tuscany. We are utterly professional." - Mr Croup
