Neil Tennant was recently interviewed by Gavin Esler for the news programme "Hardtalk Extra". The show will be aired this Friday, April 27th, on BBC24 at 0430 bst and 2330 bst and on BBC World at 0430 bst and 2330 bst. It will also be available for view on Hardtalk Extra's website.
Yeah ..great interview, I loved it when he rapped on a few lines of WEST END GIRLS with the british accent Versus American accent...it makes such a difference indeed. Imagine all these aggressive rappers ( 50 cents , Eminem...) if suddenly they were rapping with a british accent ....
Yes, an excellant interview! A small quibble...I do wish Neil wouldn't keep putting his hand near his mouth when he speaks. I guess it's just a nervous reaction, but it's slightly off-putting after awhile. Otherwise he is a very articulate and eridite interviewee. I must say that this interview somewhat flies in the face of that "Ridicule" topic. Just how embarrassing can it be to like a band whose lead singer is considered intelligent and worthy enough to be interviewed on BBC World Hardtalk extra? I don't think there are too many groups around that would be given such a privilege.

I remember Stefen Kapoor (Apache Indian) being interviewed.
But i guess Bono would rather go for the normal Hardtalk
I saw Duran Duran interviewed on Hardtalk Extra about a year ago and it was also a thoroughly illuminating and entertaining thirty minutes. It's interesting to see just how much a good interviewer and journalist such as Gavin Esler can bring out of their interviewee.
I enjoyed the interview, and Neil was on his usual witty form. However, I wish Gavin had asked a bit more specifically about were the songs still coming and future projects.
Neil's comment that Chris had the most provocative opinions of the two of them but did not like to do public debate, rather piqued my interest. I wonder what some of them might be?...
You can fly away to the end of the world
but where does it get you to?
