Computer chips are so early 21st century!
I'd go for fingerprint-sensitive skin transplants for children. If a stranger touches them, a 20,000 Volt, delivered by the power generator built in the left tigh of the child, shock will be send through the kidnapper. Far out

I'm in a brainstormy mood here and just realized how awsome it would be to have an optical lense built in your eye, connected to a black box. It would discourage any criminal to do something naughty to you as he/she will know his/her every move will be recorded and will be able to be recovered by Mr Policeman!

Also, wasn't Minority Report a cool movie?

are you tryin to suggest that we wouldnt wanna save ugly kids??? :?
It must be lost in your translation. He's saying he wishes there was as much effort to save ALL children who have gone missing - not just the pretty ones.
no, maybe you've said what he meant but he's australian from an english speaking country and what is there to translate??
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009

Now, let's think how this particular case would have been prevented. Either

a) let's implant every kid on the western hemisphere wth a computer chip so they can be traced.

or

b) let's not leave our 2- and 3-year-old kids unattended just so we can have a quiet meal in the restaurant across the street.

It's a no-brainer really.
There was an incident in NYC ten years ago where a Scandinavian couple were arrested because they left their infant in a stroller (pram) on the sidewalk while they went in to a restaurant to eat in the East Village. Major cultural differences sure, and the parents were keeping an eye on the baby from inside- but it made the papers.

Terribly sad for the family's ordeal, and pray for a happy ending. Those of you with children, guard them like wolves. It has always been so. Never ever leave them alone.
Chips and technology aren't any excuse for taking stupid, tragic risks like this.

wow. its so simple! you've solved it! now apply that to every scientific advancement.

why have GPS when you can just read a map, why have a cell phone when you can just use a public phone.

I certainly dont think all the parents who have their kids taken are bad parents.the circumstances are extremely varied.

besides I never said it was mandatory.i'm just sayin...I would get it when it becomes just another item to check off on the list to get.

all new scientific advancements seem exotic and strange in the beginning. thats just something people will get over.

awesome movie. unless you are being Ironic in which case I didnt like the movie.

actually I thought the eyeglass idea would be better for a different reason. you know when you take a vacation(or go on holiday for you europeans)or special occasions you want to video record but everyone hates doing that because it takes you out of the experience because you have to hold the camcorder.

I've always thought that an eyeglasses video recorder would be cool. it just records what you look at. I'm sure its coming.if not yet here already in the spy market.

I'm not claiming that this couple deserve what they got, because that would be preposterous. However, leaving three 2-3-year old kids on their own is very irresponsible, not because of possible childsnatchers, but because they are far too young to be left on their own. So the sad fact is that if at least one parent had stayed with the kids, this wouldn't in all likelihood have happened.

Totally agree with you here Eldritch.

The 5 of them were all on a family holiday and in my view everything they did in their time away should be together.

Leaving a 4 year old alone with 18 month old twins is something you just do not do.

That aside, it does not give someone the right to break into the apartment and steal the eldest child.
