Real gems on "Nightlife"!

'The only one' really seems to polarize doesn't it. I think it, and 'Footsteps', are some of the weakest, melody free, songs in their cannon. I've only listened to them twice I'd say

The Sound Of The Atom Splitting is their most melody-free. It's just a noise to me...

I really like The Only One, but I can't abide Footsteps. One man's meat and all that.

I tried to get into these 2 songs, but these are the 2 weakest tracks for me on the album. I just don't like them.

I love the opening song: the magic treble FYOG, CTH and I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more: fantastic.
I love all the songs of this album but not In Denial and Boy Strange. The others are very good a so much underrated album for sure.

"The Only One" summed up the end of a seven year relationship for me.

I played it to my ex-girlfriend as we drove to see PSB in Manchester in 99, and she saw herself in the lyrics.

Closer to Heaven and For Your Own Good are awesome tracks though. I think I prefer the rawer sounding demos of them.

Footsteps should really be the last track on the album - it closes off the whole "Nightlife project" perfectly.

Agreed that 3 of the strongest tracks weren't singles - Radiophonic, For Your Own Good and Closer To Heaven. Shame really...

All in all it still is my absolute FAVE PSB album....

I sometimes wonder who decides what tracks to release...for your own good would have been a top 5 hit easy...was amazing....why oh why....maybe one day we will hear why it was not released.
